Jakarta, 13 October 2022 – PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) has been in the last three carrying out its commitment to transform into a leading digital telco. This stems from Telkom's aspiration to realize its vision of becoming the first-choice digital telecommunications company that advances society. Telkom also has a big vision to create a more prosperous and competitive nation and provide the best added-value for stakeholders, as laid out in the company's three missions; accelerating the development of digital infrastructure and platforms, developing superior digital talent, and orchestrating digital ecosystems.

The vision and mission that Telkom declared in 2019 are in line with Indonesia's Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir. "The Indonesian people must be able to prove to the world that we have our own ecosystem. Telkom as a digital telecommunications company that serves as one of the backbones of Indonesia's digitalization must always innovate and collaborate to create an evenly-distributed digital ecosystem in the future," Erick Thohir said recently.

Telkom takes this mandate as a motivation for the company to accelerate transformation steps and become a driving force for Indonesia's digitalization. Telkom sees this digital potential as a great opportunity to continue to support equality and improve the quality of the ongoing digitalization. Developing a strong and competitive telecommunications infrastructure is aimed not only to meet market demand and consumers, who increasingly require high connectivity and mobility, but in a broader context, is an effort to strengthen Indonesia's integrity. Telkom believes that digitalization can enable Indonesia to leapfrog to be on par with other developed countries.

Telkom is committed to continue playing an active role in supporting the realization of an independent and sovereign digital Indonesia. To achieve this digital sovereignty, there are at least three areas that must be created, namely the environment, society, and the digital economy. Telkom focuses on developing its competencies and capabilities in the digital business through three main pillars; digital connectivity, digital platforms and digital services.

In the last three years of transformation, Telkom continues to develop its digital infrastructure, platforms and services to support various activities in every segment and layer of society. Telkom has laid out 171,654 km of optical fiber cable with an access network that reaches up to 499 district capitals and cities. Two satellites with 109 transponders, 255,107 Telkomsel Base Transceiver Stations and 36,787 telecommunication towers are in place to support this infrastructure. In addition, Telkom also has digital platforms such as 27 data center facilities including 22 at home and five overseas. Telkom also provides various digital platforms and services with leading technology to support Telkom's transformation steps to become a leading digital telecommunications company.

The Covid-19 pandemic that hit the world including Indonesia since 2020 has jump-started digital transformation several years faster and this became a space for acceleration for Telkom. Telkom continues to actively support the government's efforts in handling the pandemic and recovering the national economy through connectivity support, digital platforms and applications, as well as social assistance. The company is committed to always be present to provide convenience to people who, due to the pandemic, have to carry out various activities including working and studying digitally from home.

"Telkom's steps to transform into a digital telco company have shown good results with positive growth. This achievement is possible due to the company's consistency in strengthening digital capabilities and carrying out various innovations as an effort to transform. Telkom continues to strive to seize opportunities that exist even during a pandemic to accelerate its digital business to provide sustainable growth for the company, optimal value for stakeholders, and an abundance of benefits for the people of Indonesia," Telkom President Director Ririek Adriansyah said.

Telkom is increasingly aggressive executing its main strategy of Five Bold Moves to build the company's competitive advantages and leadership in the industry. This strategy includes the company's long-term plans and goals to achieve its goal of becoming a world-class leading digital telco company that has a positive impact on all stakeholders and society.

First, the Fixed & Mobile Convergence (FMC) strategy in which Telkom continues to strengthen market penetration, cost efficiency and operational excellence, in line with efforts to improve the best customer experience. Second, the Infra Co strategy is the Company's initiative to unlock the potential for consolidation of its infrastructure assets, including optical access network infrastructure and towers. Third, in the Data Center Co strategy, Telkom carries out the process of consolidating assets and increasing the capacity of its data center business. Fourth, the business-to-business information technology (B2B IT) initiative, which initiated internal and external transformation steps through partnerships and collaborations with technology companies. Finally, the main strategy that Telkom aims to achieve is to develop a digital company or DigiCo that focuses on the business-to-business and business-to-consumer business segments.

"Telkom as the digitalization pioneer in Indonesia will continue to be proactive in reading market potential and observing various opportunities to carry out various business expansions. The Five Bold Moves strategy is currently Telkom's priority to strengthen the company's competitive advantages so that it will be able to accelerate the realization of its vision to become a leading digital telco and to create equitable digital sovereignty for the people and for a better Indonesia," Ririek said.
