Jakarta, 11 March 2021 – The global Covid-19 pandemic that hit Indonesia has caused a major impact on various sectors including tourism. In a bid to revive the sector in Indonesia and to face the challenges ahead, President Director of PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) Ririek Adriansyah and the President Directors of seven state-owned tourism enterprises, which will be merged under an aviation and tourism holding entity, signed a memorandum of understanding on the state-owned enterprises’ strategic role to support the tourism ecosystem. The seven companies are airport operators PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero), PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero), flag carrier PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero), integrated tourism complex developer and management PT Indonesian Tourism Development (Persero) or ITDC, temple management PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko (Persero), hospitality operator Hotel Indonesia Natour ( Persero), and retailer PT Sarinah (Persero).

Telkom Enterprise & Business Service Director, Edi Witjara said on a separate occasion that Telkom remains committed to strengthening the tourism sector development through digitization and optimization of infrastructure, platform, and digital services. "We will provide the digital solutions, platform, and services needed to carry out the state-owned tourism ecosystem enterprises' strategic program, so that it is useful in accelerating digitalization in the tourism sector and its supporting sub-sectors," Edi said.

Previously, Telkom has manifested its support for Indonesia’s tourism sector through the Indonesia Travel & Tourism Digital Platform Wonderful Indonesia (wonderin.id) which introduces a new way to develop the tourism ecosystem in Indonesia. The platform features a marketplace that bridges partners in the sector and provides a strong tourism network in inventory management, distribution and simplifying access to information and business travel analysis to boost the partners’ transaction experience. The digital platform’s orientation is to support the digitization of tourist villages and to expand as a information center that provides comprehensive information for tourists who want to see the beauty of Indonesia. It is expected that tourists would be interested to travel again by using the digital platform.

In addition to digital platforms wonderin.id, Telkom also has an end-to-end Corporate Travel Management (TravelAja) business solution with a system that is fully integrated with transport and accomodations reservation and ticket issuance, and other travel-related expenses.

"With this spirit of synergy, let us make this state-owned tourism ecosystem enterprises’ strategic program a success. Telkom is committed to continue supporting the digitization of tourism and other industrial sectors. Hopefully with this spirit, we can take part to improve the nation's economy, and make Indonesia even better," Edi said.
