Jakarta, 15 January 2021 - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk continues to strive for TelkomGroup telecommunications services to keep operating normally after the 6.2-magnitude earthquake that struck Majene and Mamuju, West Sulawesi Friday (15/1) at 2:28 Central Indonesia Time (WITA).
“The backbone network is still operating normally and we are checking the access network. Meanwhile, for cellular services, there are some disruptions to several BTS, which is generally due to power supply constraints. We will continue to check and speed up repairs so we can locate any affected network devices," Telkom Vice President for Corporate Communication, Pujo Pramono said in Jakarta.
Pujo added that based on a preliminary report the Mamuju Automatic Telephone Center (STO) customer service building is slightly damaged. The STO Mamuju requires a generator set due to on-site power supply disruption. "We apologize to customers affected by the disruption in the telecommunications services due to the earthquake. To speed up the identification and recovery efforts, we have sent a team of technicians from Parepare to Mamuju to check and speed up repairing the disrupted service," Pujo said.
Currently, Telkom has deployed mobile generators from Donggala to Mamuju. Telkom also provides free internet at the Wifi Corner of the Mamuju Regional Telecommunication Service (Kandatel) office, which the public uses to communicate and access information.
