Jakarta, 17 June 2022 - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) participated in the London Tech Week 2022, the largest annual technology event in the United Kingdom, which attracted more than 20,000 participants, including government leaders, global companies, start-ups, investors, venture capitalists to technology companies. During these activities, notably at the launch of Smart Cities for Indonesia handbook, Telkom Digital Business Director Muhamad Fajrin Rasyid spoke to an audience to throw light on Telkom's role in supporting the realization of sustainable development through Smart City solutions, especially in Indonesia. Also attending the hybrid event were representatives from the UK Government's Department for International Trade, and a British multinational professional services firm in construction, architecture, and interior design, ARUP. 

Fajrin said in his remarks that Indonesia has a huge digital economic potential with a fast-growing internet use and the highest in Southeast Asia. “Digital transformation is a component that plays an important role for Indonesia's sustainable development in the future. Indonesia's digitalization can boost national productivity, open up more job opportunities, create better efficiency and services, and increase public access to the best services," Fajrin said.

Fajrin also said that as a state-owned telecommunications company, Telkom fully supports the government's efforts, especially in advancing digitization in various aspects. Equipped with a reliable infrastructure and a variety of products and services on offer, Telkom is present to develop a digital environment, foster a digital society and accelerate the digital economy through three domains, namely connectivity, platform, and services. One of Telkom's supports in digitalization is the Smart City solution for cities and districts in Indonesia. It is one of the digital services that Telkom develops. 

Smart City is a solution that Telkom introduces to accelerate cities and districts into becoming smart and modern areas. The main pillars in Telkom's Smart City development are Smart Infrastructure, Smart City Integrated City Ecosystem Management, and Smart Solutions.

"The ongoing construction of the new capital city Nusantara uses Telkom's Smart City solution. In addition to providing the best connectivity services, TelkomGroup will also present the best digital solutions by developing an Intelligent Data Center with Smart & Intelligent Network Security so as to back Nusantara in becoming a smart city with the best digital services and a high level of cybersecurity," Fajrin said.

In addition to speaking at the London Tech Week, Fajrin, accompanied by Telkom Vice President for Digital Business Strategy and Governance, Riza AN Rukmana, also had a bilateral meeting with Jacqueline Poh, Managing Director of Singapore Economic Development Board and Stephan Kuester, Head of Strategy at Startup Genome.  During the meeting, Telkom discussed and explored opportunities for cooperation in agriculture and the startup ecosystem .

Fajrin also met with Danielle Dove, the British Prime Minister's Special Staff for Business Affairs at the United Kingdom Prime Minister's office Downing Street No.10. During the meeting in Margaret Thatcher 's room, Fajrin expressed his aspirations and hopes that British investors could look at Indonesia with all its great potential.

"London Tech Week 2022 is a good moment and opportunity for Telkom to showcase the company's and Indonesia's strengths to the international public. Telkom for sure warmly welcomes various collaborations with potential partners and investors. Hopefully, Telkom's participation in this activity would yield good results for the company's digital business development," Fajrin said.
