Jakarta, 17 April 2021 – As a telecommunications company in transformation into a digital telecommunications company, PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) continuously provides the best for the community. Telkom focuses on three digital business domains, namely digital connectivity, digital platforms, and digital services.

As a manifestation of Telkom's commitment, a few days ago Telkom Enterprise & Business Service Director Edi Witjara and Telkomsat President Director Endi Fitri met with the Army Chief of Staff General Andika Perkasa at the army headquarters, Central Jakarta (13/4). The visit aims to stay in touch and to explore opportunities for cooperation in Satellite on The Move, a satellite-based communication service that supports mobility which works with the device being installed on a vehicle, a watercraft, or an aircraft. The device is capable of establishing communication in real time even if it is on the move.

During the visit, Edi Witjara explained the latest developments in information technology as well as trends and roadmaps for satellite technology to the Army Chief of Staff. Edi said that Telkom's newest satellite, the Merah Putih Satellite, is equipped with 60 active transponders, consisting of 24 Standard C-Bands and 12 Extended C-Bands that cover Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countries, and 24 Standard C-bands that cover the South Asian Region. This satellite occupies the 108 degrees East Longitude (BT) orbital slot or above the Karimata Strait. “The Merah Putih Satellite complements two other Telkom satellites that are in operation, Telkom 2 Satellite and Telkom 3S Satellite. Telkom currently has 133 transponders and is a major player in satellite services in Southeast Asia," Edi Witjara said.

In synergy with Telkomsat as the company that specializes in satellite, Telkom as a working partner of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) continues to provide breakthroughs and solutions for digitizing infrastructure, platforms, and services to support the Army to become a strong institution in maintaining national defense and security.

General Andika Perkasa said, “I really support what Telkom has presented. Personally, I am always enthusiastic and fascinated by the latest technologies, and we really need them.”

Telkomsat President Director Endi Fitri explained the benefits of using Satellite on The Move technology for the Army as it is very useful for operations in conflict areas, borders, and outermost islands; natural disaster response operations; army training; and communication support for ground units, the Army and the Army Aviation Center.

Endi assured the general that Telkom would provide the best service and total performance for government agencies, including the Army. Furthermore, Telkom specifically offers cooperation in Satellite on The Move for land, sea, and air platforms.
