Implementation of a certified entrepreneurship and IT training program for persons with disabilities.

Jakarta, 16 January 2023 - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom), as a company that focus on digital strengthening and has been consistently supporting the achievement of Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on quality education for all levels of Indonesian society, has launched various sustainable Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs to encourage digitalization in the education sector.

There were at least five programs in 2022 that Telkom ran to encourage digitalization in the education sector. The first program is Digital Innovation Learning School. It provides educational assistance worth 11.23 billion rupiah in the form of Device, Network, Application (DNA) devices to 350 schools across Indonesia, especially in the frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged regions. The DNA equipment assistance distributed through this program consisted of two computers, one projector, and one Telkomsel Orbit modem unit with a free subscription for a year.

Apart from the digital device assistance program, Telkom also focuses on increasing the younger generation's digital capacity to foster quality and competitive future digital talent. Through the Developing Digital Skills for Vocational program, Telkom provides digital skill set certification to 1,040 high school or vocational high school graduates throughout Indonesia who were unemployed, so that they could have wider opportunities with improved and adequate abilities. In addition, in the Digital Bootcamp for Millennials program, Telkom provided training to improve computer programming skills to 515 millennials held in Telkom BUMN Houses in Malang, Batam and Pekalongan.

As a company that upholds inclusivity, Telkom respects all differences and believes that every individual has the right to equal opportunities, including persons with disabilities. In the field of education, through the Bridging the Disability Divide through Digital Technologies program, Telkom provides certified entrepreneurship and information technology training for persons with disabilities to improve their competence and they can use the skills to explore their potential to be productive and understand their inclusion in social and cultural activities. In collaboration with Telkom Vocational School, this program was held in two stages across Indonesia with 368 participants. The participants were provided with three learning materials; digital marketing, landing page design, and content creation or basic techniques of photography and videography.

Looking at the increasingly competitive industry in the future, young digital talent certainly needs to have a creative mindset to come up with innovations. Through the Innovillage program, Telkom continues to provide support for students to innovate solutions for environmental and social problems around them. In its 4th edition in 2022, there were 1,442 students and 310 supervisors from 120 universities from various cities in Indonesia who took part in the program. Apart from honing students' digital skills, Innovillage is also aimed to hone social sensitivity as an important element in preparing future digital leaders.

"Telkom's role in the world of education is carried out through sustainable programs to accelerate the creation of an inclusive learning process for the community. We are optimistic that through the use of digital technology, we will make changes for the better and nurture Indonesia's best digital talents," Telkom Human Capital Management Director Afriwandi said.
