Bogor, 3 March 2021 – Enterprise & Business Service Director of PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, Edi Witjara and Head of The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) M. Fanshurullah Asa signed a memorandum of understanding on the Mutual Utilization of Company Potential in Bogor (2/3), as a manifestation of support for digitalization in the downstream sector of oil and gas  and to contribute to the success of the government's programs of Single Fuel Price, Fuel Targeted Subsidies and Energy Security.

The signing of this memorandum of understanding is an effort to strengthen BPH Migas in supervising and regulating the supply and distribution of fuel and natural gas by strengthening the use of digitized data. Therefore, it can guarantee fuel availability and distribution as determined by the government across Indonesia so that BPH Migas policies and regulations will be effective and anticipatory in dealing with current and future conditions. The collaboration covers connectivity aspects, digital platforms and services that both companies agreed on.

Previously, Telkom had finalized the gas station digitization program across Indonesia. Gas station digitization is a real-time monitoring system for fuel distribution and sales at each gas station to improve service and operational standards. Through this digitalization, Pertamina can monitor stock conditions and sales of seven types of fuel, payment transactions at gas stations and the management of subsidized fuel distribution. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, the Ministry of Finance, and BPH Migas have direct access to the digitized data, so that they can support each other on fuel monitoring and distribution, including subsidized fuel such as Bio Solar (B30) and the assigned Premium.

Head of BPH Migas M. Fanshurullah Asa said there are now 5,518 digitized Pertamina gas stations, and expects Telkom could support the oil and gas upstream data management and its operator.

Edi Witjara said in his speech that in its transformation into a digital telco company, Telkom remains customer-oriented. This is in accordance with Telkom's vision to become the preferred digital telco to advance the society. Telkom divides its business into three digital business domains, namely Digital Connectivity, Digital Platform, and Digital Services. The existence of a digital platform business is a response to challenges and obstacles in data management. Big data services are expected to provide comprehensive data solutions so that they are useful in accelerating digitization in order to provide the best service.

"Thank you for trusting BPH Migas to synergize with Telkom in supervising and regulating the supply and distribution of fuel and natural gas using digital technology," Edi Witjara said.

By collaborating on the mutual utilization of company potential between Telkom and BPH Migas in regards to this digital-based technology service, both parties can provide mutual benefits and added value according to their respective capabilities, and can improve the best service for the wider community in fuel and natural gas needs.

"In the future, Telkom will continue to be present to provide digitalization for state-owned enterprises and other corporations in Indonesia, as per government directives. We hope it can increase SOEs and corporations’ values and support cashless transactions, and eventually it will be able to strengthen Indonesia's digital economy," Edi said.
