Jakarta, 3 December 2022 - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) takes part in commemorating International Disability Day which falls on 3 December 2022. As a company that upholds the values of diversity and inclusivity, Telkom respects all differences and believes that every individual deserves an opportunity, including persons with disabilities. In line with the theme of International Disability Day 2022 this year, namely "Transformative Solutions for Inclusive Development: The Role of Innovation in Fueling an Accessible and Equitable World", Telkom as a digital telco company has played a big role in providing programs related to empowerment, protection and fulfillment of human rights persons with disabilities at work.

One of Telkom's efforts in this regard is to provide an inclusive and friendly workplace for persons with disabilities. Telkom's working environment are designed to accommodate employees with various conditions, including employees with disabilities. So far, there are at least 80 employees with disabilities who are part of the TelkomGroup, consisting of physically disabled, deaf, blind and mute people. Telkom believes that people with disabilities have the same potential if the company can provide the best instruments to hone their abilities. Therefore, apart from having disability-friendly facilities and amenities, Telkom also provides recruitment channels for disabled people and ensures a good learning curve by initiating a special talent development program for people with disabilities.

The second program is the initiation of sign language learning through the I Can Hear And Talk (I-Chat) application. Telkom has been developing this innovation since 2010 as a means of learning sign language for the deaf and disabled people or the general public who also want to learn sign language. The presence of the I-Chat application changes the conventional way of learning sign language into a modern way by taking advantage of the advantages of IT. The app enables users or anyone to learn sign language easily anywhere and anytime. Telkom has promoted this application in many big cities in Indonesia and in state schools for the disabled (SLB-B) and provides computers as the company's assistance to several selected SLB-B.

The third program is the Broadband Learning Center for Disabilities (BLC-D) that Mata Hati Community initiated. Telkom Regional 5 (East Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara areas) always realizes the BLC-D initiative to help people with disabilities to experience digital services as part of the learning process. This program is a broadband internet facility using high-speed IndiHome services provided at a special place. The facilities provided are used by people with disabilities to be able to take advantage of internet services and digital features while socializing.

The next one is an empowerment program by providing ICT training for persons with disabilities. This program is very important to increase the competence of young people with disabilities so that they can explore their potential to be productive and understand social and cultural activities. In collaboration with Telkom Vocational School (SMK), this program was held in two stages across Indonesia with 300 participants. The material for participants is divided into three sections, namely Digital Marketing, Landing Page Design, and Content Creator (focusing on basic techniques of photography and videography), as well as other materials tailored to the needs and requests of participants.

Telkom Human Capital Management Director Afriwandi said he hoped that the programs would foster people with disabilities to become future digital talents who would make the best contribution to the nation. "Implementation of programs and provision of a disability-friendly work environment will always be Telkom's concern in realizing an inclusive company. Telkom and the synergy of all stakeholders will always be committed to providing a wider space in increasing the participation and contribution of persons with disabilities to support the nation's development," Afriwandi said.
