Jakarta, 19 May 2023 - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) remains committed to supporting accelerating the even-distribution for digitalization in the education sector across Indonesia, especially the outermost, frontier and less developed regions. Telkom recently manifested its commitment by providing digital learning facilities to schools and foundations in those areas. Telkom tries to reach out to off-grid areas that remain unconnected to digital technology, as it is also a manifestation of the Sustainable Development Goals 4 on quality education.

Telkom has reached out to one of the nearest less developed areas in West Java. Telkom provided assistance to more than 70 madrasah and Islamic foundations West Java, including those in five in Bandung Regency, 10 locations in West Bandung Regency, 11 in Ciamis Regency, and another 11 in Garut Regency. Telkom also provided the same assistance to four Islamic schools in Kuningan Regency, 18 in Sukabumi Regency, and 11 in Sumedang Regency. Each school or foundation was provided with computers, projectors and internet modems.

The program aims to evenly digitalize the education sector in the outermost, frontier and less developed regions, notably in the rural areas across Indonesia, so that students become digital literate. In addition, they can have more fun and variety in their learning activities by using the internet network for students and teachers. This is in line with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Technology Research's Merdeka Belajar (Freedom to Learn) policy, which encourages all parties to collaborate through various means and facilities, including ICT-based learning facilities. The program is also a manifestation of Telkom's commitment to implementing environmental, social, and corporate governance.

Telkom Senior General Manager for Community Development Center, Hery Susanto, said that digitizing schools is one of the ways to improve the quality of education in Indonesia. "Telkom hopes that this digital learning facility assistance can provide easy access to learning for students by using digital technology," Hery said.

Telkom remains committed to providing added value to the Indonesian people, directly through its business activities and indirectly through its social and environmental empowerment  activities. This is in line with the company's goal to create a more prosperous and competitive nation and to provide the best added value for stakeholders, Hery said.
