Merauke, 26 April 2021 – IndiHome encourages the Papuan people to actively introduce the land of Cenderawasih, as Papua is known, to the wider community through IndiHome internet services to bid welcome the XX National Games (PON), which will be held in Papua in October.

IndiHome, the flagship fixed broadband service owned by PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom), has taken concrete actions by organizing the IndiHome Wonderful Papua program last March, which highlighted three big goals, namely Connectivity, Creativity, and Charity.

Within a month, IndiHome managed to achieve these goals, especially Connectivity, by installing 50 IndiHome Wifi Corners throughout Papua and West Papua provinces. Telkom Consumer Service Director Venusiana announced this achievement in Merauke, (23/4).

"As Indonesia's internet, we continue to strive to meet the digital needs of the Papuan people. So, IndiHome realized it by developing 50 Wifi Corners in Papua and even in the outermost areas such in Merauke’s Sota district on the border [with Papua New Guinea], Raja Ampat in West Papua, and Tanah Merah. Currently, Papuans can access the internet via 50 IndiHome Wifi Corners,” Venusiana said.

In addition to a stable internet connection with internet speeds of up to 100 Mbps, IndiHome Wifi.id Corners are equipped with chairs, tables, and electricity supplies, which make it easier and more comfortable for students and Papuan people to access the internet.

"IndiHome will continue to develop its services in Papua to reach 100% coverage. There are six regencies/cities and 98 districts in Papua where IndiHome service is available. The Wifi.id IndiHome Corner is expected to serve as the right location for communities in Papua to be creative, to explore interesting ideas, and to bring out the Papua's beauty and richness to the world especially, to welcome the PON XX in Papua," Venusiana said.

Currently, the IndiHome Wonderful Papua Program is conducting two interesting competitions aimed to increase the Papuan people’s creativity, including the Gita and Nada Papua Competition and the Wonderful Papua Portrait Competition with IndiHome. The Papuan people’s high enthusiasm to participate in the events was evident by the hundreds of participants in the competition, which was still ongoing. The participants will get training with professionals and go through the grand final stage to determine the five winners in the Wonderful Papua Portrait Competition with IndiHome. The grand final stage and the winners’ announcement will be broadcast via the IndiHome YouTube channel on 30 April 2021.

The first winner of the Gita and Nada Papua Competition will get Rp10 million cash prize. Meanwhile, the second and the third winners will get cash prizes of Rp7.5 million and Rp5 million, respectively. The first winner of the Wonderful Papua Portrait Competition with IndiHome will get Rp15 million cash prizes, the second winner will get Rp10 million, and the third winner will get Rp7.5 million cash prizes.  The first and the second runner-ups will get Rp5 million and Rp3.5 million cash prizes, respectively.

IndiHome manifested the third goal of IndiHome Wonderful Papua by spreading kindness through social activities such as providing hundreds of millions of rupiah in aid to communities in Papua, including the Al-Aqsho Grand Mosque in Merauke City, Nurul Huda Mosque in Sota Village, GPI Papua Eden Church in Sota, Pelangi Orphanage, Al-Muttaqin Islamic Boarding School in Jayapura, Trigona Bress Honey-Producing Community, Ellu Pokos Merauke Eucalyptus Producing Community, Charitas Santa Bernadetha Mayo Nature School, craft makers of Cendrawasih Bird replicas in Wendu Hamlet, and St Vincentius Orphanage Bhakti Luhur Alma Foundation. In addition, Telkom also provided Orbit assistance and a one-year free internet quota in Merauke's zero-kilometer area.

IndiHome hopes that through the IndiHome Wonderful Papua Program, it would foster a more sophisticated, creative, and productive Papuan community and support the PON XX in Papua. In the future, IndiHome will continue to foster a digital society in various other outer regions.
