Jakarta, 16 October 2020 – The increasing role of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in accelerating Indonesia's economic turnover through its contribution to gross domestic product has encouraged the need for technology-based support to facilitate entrepreneurs, especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. To support the entrepreneurs, especially MSMEs, PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) launches BONUM POS, a free digital cashier (point of sales) application for MSMEs in Indonesia.
Bonum is a Latin word which means the highest kindness and the app is expected to be able to offer the best assistance for MSMEs. Bonum founder, Herdi Widiantoro, said during the app launch that many digital cashier applications are available in Indonesia, but BONUM POS tries to look at and understand what MSMEs need for an application that can help and facilitate their business management. Bonum offers various conveniences such as a well-organized sales record, which helps the entrepreneurs in making right-on-target strategy and business decisions.
"BONUM POS is a manifestation of TelkomGroup support in assisting local businesses to conduct hassle-free business activities. This is a move to assist MSMEs in better optimizing digital technology. BONUM POS is applicable on a cellphone, in which its operators can easily conduct various transaction operations, from product entry to sales without having to use additional devices," Herdi said.
As a user-friendly application, BONUM POS is equipped with features to record and compile a product sales catalog that can be updated after every transaction, including to make a product as the mainstay product. Moreover, it also features a manual counting for users who have more than one type of product, and the products would still be recorded in the transaction report. Sales receipts are recorded in the digital receipt feature to help checking the sales, and are printable based on the sales activity needs.
BONUM POS also offers other conveniences such as a non-cash payment system applicable accross Indonesia and a thorough daily, weekly and monthly income report that can be downloaded directly during the recording period, according to user requirements.
"These services, which focus on the users’ economic activity management, will have additional services according to the users’ needs after the trial period, which will cost less than 50,000 rupiah per month. In November 2020, we will promote additional menu and we plan to implement it earlier in 2021. We hope this application will provide opportunities for MSME players to run their business effectively and efficiently," Herdi said.
BONUM POS is one of Telkom's digital initiatives through Tribe Small Medium Business (SMB) Digitalization to provide digital solutions, products, and services to increase the MSMEs’ competitiveness to go modern, go digital and go online. This is a manifestation of Telkom's commitment to continue strengthening digital platforms and develop digital services in line with the company's transformation to become a digital telco. Moreover, BONUM POS also supports the government to empower MSMEs as one of the most important aspects in accelerating Indonesia's economic activities.
