Jakarta, 7 April 2021 – PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) services in several areas of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province were disrupted on 7 April, 2021 starting 05.09 Western Indonesia Time (WIB), due to damaged fiber optic network along the Maumere – Larantuka segment, after a similar incident happened to the fiber optic in Kupang – Soe segment caused by landslides and a bridge damaged in the extreme weather. The disrupted services occured in Atambua, Soe, Larantuka, and Kalabahi. Meanwhile, TelkomGroup services in the greater Kupang area are secure and running normally.

Telkom Vice President of Corporate Communication, Pujo Pramono, apologized for the inconvenience that customers experienced due to TelkomGroup’s disrupted services in some areas of NTT. "We have deployed technicians to the network locations damaged by the landslide to immediately repair it. However, given the difficult terrain with broken bridges and the affected network, it takes time to repair. We also deployed technical assistance from Denpasar to speed up the network repair so that it will soon resume normal.”

Pujo added that Telkom will continue to monitor the service repair process and alert technicians to secure services in other areas in the province. "We are also preparing temporary alternative routes to speed up service recovery. Telkom regrets the service disruptions in NTT. We have distributed food and other basic necessities to affected communities. Let us  pray that this extreme weather will be over soon and God always protect our comrades in NTT,” Pujo said.
