Jakarta, 12 January 2023 - The widespread use of internet and telecommunication services has increased the possibility of cyber crime, including fraud. PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) is not spared from the problem, especially its digital service product, IndiHome. With the increasing prevalence of frauds under the guise of customer service, Telkom and IndiHome call on the public, especially IndiHome subscribers, to always be vigilant against fraudulent schemers. 

 

"IndiHome calls on our customers and the community to always be careful of various modes of fraud pretending to be Telkom. The scheme that is rife at the moment is a request to make a transaction of a certain amount of money through a personal account number to unblock or tp pay overdue bills," Telkom VP Marketing Management E. Kurniawan said.

 

The fraudulent schemes are suspected to be using automatic calling machines to direct customers to talk to fake customer service by dialing 9 or 1 on the phone. Then the perpetrator will tell the customers that their customer number has been misused so that there are overdue bills to settle otherwise the fake agent will file a report against the customers to the authorities.

 

The intimidated customers often resorted to transferring a certain amount of money to the con schemer. Therefore, as a preventive measure, customers are expected to always maintain the confidentiality of their personal data, namely, ID card number, OTP, and savings account numbers. In addition, customers are expected not to carry out any transaction activities directed to personal account numbers or respond to calls claiming to be on behalf of Telkom from unknown personal numbers.

 

"All billing and transaction processes with customers only use official channels from Telkom. If our party has to contact customers by telephone, they will not ask about important customer data. Customers can confirm this information on our official channels on Indihome Care social media, contact center 147, or the nearest Grapari TelkomGroup," Kurniawan said.

 

The final step to avoid fraud, IndiHome and Telkom customers can confirm the information they received by contacting the official IndiHome channel or coming directly to the nearest Grapari TelkomGroup. Make sure to pay Telkom bills directly through the available official payment channels and not to a personal bank account. Customers will also always receive complete billing statement information every month sent by Telkom to the customer's personal email.
