Jakarta, 17 February 2023 - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk supports the digitization of Padang City Regional Public Water Utility Company (Perumda AM) to improve the quality of its services in measuring and monitoring water consumption to obtain much more accurate data. This is Telkom's concrete step as the preferred and leading digital telco company to provide effective solutions for business processes through digital technology. Perumda AM cooperates with Telkom to conduct piloting the Smart Water Meter with Valve solution that utilizes Internet of Things (IoT) technology from Antares, a digital product from Leap -Telkom Digital.

 

This Smart Water Meter Valve IoT solution features functions including digital recording of cubication on customer water meters. The parameters that this solution can record include the final cubication at the customer's meter through data taken from the water pulse meter. In addition, opening or closing the valve can also be done digitally remotely. The Smart Water Meter with Valve piloting will be set up in 100 locations in two phases, during which each phase will have 50 locations installed respectively.  

 

Telkom Digital Business Director Fajrin Rasyid said that Antares' Smart Water Meter with Valve offers various benefits in operational processes and to customers. Padang City's Perumda AM can now take customer meter readings consistently on the same date, and significantly reduce bill shock potential for customers. 

 

Utilization of Smart Water Meters with Valve also minimizes the risk of increasing bills caused by unreadable meters, recording errors, fraud, and differences in expectations with customers. It enables Padang City Perumda AM to significantly improve its services, especially on transparency of customers' water usage and reduce the potential for customer complaints. 

 

“Smart Water Meter with Valve that uses Antares' IoT also allows customers to receive bills at a consistent period with accurate and reliable information. Customers can also see water consumption periodically through an online application, and it boosts water usage transparency," Fajrin said.

 

IT Manager of Perumda AM Padang City Dheny Skylab said before using IoT technology from Antares, the company has had a number of obstacles. For example, unrecorded customer billing, and the difficulty of getting permission to enter certain locations. Apart from that, cutting off the flow of water in the field also requires money, sometimes even having to deal with residents. "With this Smart Water Meter, we don't need to manually go to the field to cut off the flow of water, and water flow disconnection doesn't take a long time, and reduces risks of any harm for residents," Dheny said.

 

"So far we have been able to monitor water usage from customers every day, where previously we were only able to monitor it once a month. And in the future, we hope that should there be customers in arrears, we can immediately disconnect them via mobile," Dheny added.

 

In addition, through the use of IoT technology Antares, customers are also given an estimate of the current monthly bill via the mobile application so that customers can predict the total bill at the end of the month. Perumda AM Padang City can also implement an isolation system (open and close valve) if customers delay billing.
