Jakarta, 18 November 2022 – The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. H. Joko Widodo closed the G20 summit week, a multilateral forum for economic cooperation of the world's 20 largest economies. The entire G20 Presidency events this year had been successfully held up to the two-day summit in Nusa Dua, Bali. The overall success of organizing this event was possible thanks to collaboration from many parties, namely the government, state-owned enterprises, private companies, industry players, and the community. PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) as a provider of telecommunication infrastructure services, platforms and digital services during the G20 Presidency was able to contribute its best services in supporting events attended by many world leaders.
TelkomGroup collaboration to provide telecommunications infrastructure services consists of domestic network infrastructure including international gateways through the Manado Gateway and Batam Gateway to anticipate high traffic at the five main venues of the G20 Summit, TelkomGroup installed an internet connection of 11.2 Gbps, Wifi 777 AP, Telkomsel 29 BTS, and Metro 1 Gbps. Apart from ensuring excellent service, Telkom also guaranteed 99.9% SLG with maximum resolution time for handling network disturbances that task force personnel secured with 24/7 escorts and guaranteed user safety. The escort prevented gradual disturbances in order to be able to provide the best service for all participants at the venues.
Stakeholders and the public at large also benefited from Telkom's infrastructure services reliability during the event. ICT Manager of PT. Pactoconvex Niagatama, Ardian Pangasto who is also the Field IT Coordinator representing PT Pacto as the PCO for organizing the G20 Summit, shared his experiences in collaborating and using Telkom's internet services during the event in Nusa Dua. “During the preparation of network infrastructure, communication was the thing that we must prioritized. The Telkom team could maintain good communication and coordination. I liked the flexibility, it was actually what I expected. There were dynamics in the field ahead of the D-day and thank God, the Telkom team was very responsive in all situations. We could remotely monitor many priority locations thanks to all my colleagues' efforts. I think I am satisfied with this collaboration," Ardian said.
One of the most important locations during the summit week was the Media Center. As the venue where journalists from various media from all G20 member countries and national media gathered, the Media Center required fast internet access and a strong network. It was estimated up to 2,000 journalists gathered to cover the B20 and G20 summits, which were broadcast in relay on the big screens in the media center rooms. The media personnel's hectic activities to spread the latest news real time through various channels resulted in high traffic using the internet in the media center. To anticipate it, Telkom has succeeded in maintaining reliable internet quality and capacity as well as deploying special personnel to the Media Center to be on standby in case there were any connection disruptions.
A journalist from France 24 Arabic Channel said he was impressed with the telecommunication services in the G20 venues and had a good experience in using it. “I live in Tokyo and came here to cover the G20. Internet speed here is very good, very fast, and the staff on duty are also very friendly. I am very satisfied with the service provided," he said.
Telkom's determination in providing reliable quality telecommunication services by prioritizing to provide the best customer experience during the summit week was well received. All the efforts during preparations and securing the network resulted in a positive response from stakeholders and participants. This success would not have been possible without good synergy and collaboration between the TelkomGroup and all parties involved.
"It is our pride and honor to be able to contribute to the success of the G20 summit week of Indonesia's presidency. Of course there were lessons learned for us to continue to innovate in order to provide better service quality in the future. Thank you for the hard work and smart work of all TelkomGroup personnel involved, support from the Ministry of SOEs and good cooperation from all parties," Telkom President Director Ririek Adriansyah said.
