Media crew will enjoy fast and reliable internet access during the event.

Labuan Bajo, 6 May 2023 – The 42nd ASEAN Summit is rapidly approaching. In just a few days, leaders from Southeast Asian countries will convene for a grand event themed "ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth." This summit presents an opportunity for Indonesia, as the host nation, to showcase excellence across various sectors, particularly in telecommunications and digital technology. PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) has been entrusted with providing telecommunications infrastructure and services, including backup facilities, across all venues for the 42nd ASEAN Summit, including the media center.

The media center holds significant importance during this international event. Journalists from local, national, and international media outlets will gather here to disseminate updates on high-level discussions and conferences to the public. The success of this information dissemination hinges greatly on the quality of the telecommunications infrastructure provided by Telkom. To this end, Telkom has secured the submarine cable communication system, enhanced Telkomsel BTS coverage with 4G and 5G capabilities, and boosted bandwidth capacity. Additionally, Telkom has implemented next-gen firewall measures to preempt cyber threats.

Telkom's comprehensive preparations align with the message from Indonesian Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G. Plate, emphasizing the pivotal role of media in sharing summit outcomes with the public, facilitated by robust digital infrastructure. Telkom has specifically ensured network readiness at the main venue, offering an internet speed of 3.9 Gbps and 160 access points at 4.4 Gbps, supported by base transceiver stations (BTS). At the media center, Telkom has provided a 3.9 Gbps internet network with 31 Access Points operating at 1.4 Gbps to ensure seamless information dissemination throughout the summit. Furthermore, three satellite news gathering (SNG) units have been deployed to cater to media crew requirements.

Herlan Wijanarko, Telkom Network & IT Solution Director, reaffirmed Telkom's readiness, highlighting the preparation of top-tier infrastructure, including backup systems and telecommunications services, to manage anticipated traffic surges during the ASEAN Summit.

"In addition to infrastructure and service readiness, TelkomGroup has deployed a Next Generation Firewall to proactively address potential cyber threats. With our robust infrastructure and operational readiness in terms of personnel, processes, and technology, we are poised and fully equipped to support this significant national event, which promises exceptional opportunities not only for our company and society but also for Indonesia," Herlan said.
