Jakarta, 6 November 2023 – The FIFA U-17 World Cup 2023 football tournament in Indonesia will be held from 10 November to 2 December 2023. There will be 24 countries participating in the matches taking place in four large stadiums in Indonesia: Si Jalak Harupat Stadium (Bandung), Manahan Stadium (Surakarta), Jakarta International Stadium (Jakarta), and Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (Surabaya).

This event is a momentum for Indonesia to gain world recognition for organizing football matches in the country," Telkom Network & IT Solution Director Herlan Wijanarko said.

Telkom provides digital connectivity services in four stadiums with a total bandwidth of 14.2 Gbps, consisting of Astinet with 3.4 Gbps capacity in each stadium and 600 Mbps in the FIFA office, as well as in 182 wifi access points.

Telkom subsidiary Telkomsel also provides the Telkomsel Hyper 5G Network with 47 5G BTS units covering all stadium areas and supporting locations for the U-17 World Cup. Additionally, there is support for 97 4G/LTE BTS units, optimization for more than 1,300 4G/LTE BTS units, 2 COMBAT BTS units, and 28 EasyMacro BTS units.

All infrastructure and services provided by TelkomGroup are prepared with excellent capacity, diversity, and cyber security, including network backup via international gateway infrastructure through two different communication gateways: Batam and Manado. Additionally, there is support from two fiber optic backbone infrastructures, the Indonesia Global Gateway and the Jember-Denpasar Cable System, with 1,460 Gbps capacity and peak traffic at 517 Gbps (35%). Telkom also provides dual homing access infrastructure in each stadium with a capacity of 2 x 10 Gbps, equipped with cyber security supported by a DDoS Protection and firewall system in each stadium. To ensure system redundancy of infrastructure and supporting services, as well as the readiness of all infrastructure, TelkomGroup is conducting a series of rehearsal tests, culminating on November 6.

Telkom Ensures Readiness of Telecommunications Infrastructure and Personnel

To ensure the readiness and quality of digital telecommunications services during the preparation and the matches, Telkom kicked off its TelkomGroup Task Force for the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup Indonesia, led by Telkom Network & IT Solution Director, Herlan Wijanarko, at the North Jakarta regional office (6/11) to review network infrastructure and field officers readiness.

Herlan said that Telkom has prepared all infrastructure and services in four stadiums in Jakarta, Bandung, Surakarta, and Surabaya. "Telkom will conduct a final rehearsal  to ensure that all infrastructure and services function properly and can be used by all stakeholders. Telkom has also prepared a command post to oversee services during the event," Herlan said.

Telkom has established a 24/7 TelkomGroup command post, to ensure the smooth and reliable operation of the telecommunications network during the tournament, with more than 200 team members ensuring the quality of the provided telecommunications network. All members are distributed across central, regional, and operational posts at each stadium.

Herlan said he hoped the technicians can provide optimal supervision and always ensure that all services are available to stakeholders, including visitors and media crews.
