Jakarta, 16 February 2023 - Leading digital telco company PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) has collaborated with energy company PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) to digitize safety training at mine sites and build a center of excellence in virtual learning in Indonesia's energy sector. This collaboration is a new breakthrough between the two state-owned enterprises by utilizing the first Metaverse platform in Indonesia and Leap-Telkom Digital’s product, metaNesia. Telkom Digital Business Director Fajrin Rasyid and PHR President Director Jaffee Arizona Suardin launched the collaboration with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in Jakarta Thursday (16/2).
This collaboration is Telkom's concrete step in carrying out Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir's mandate to push for digital acceleration in all industrial sectors. Telkom through metaNesia provides the latest technology solutions through the development of a training system in the virtual world. This model strengthens PHR's current training system to meet the employees' needs and improve their work experience.
"Since officially operating on 31 July 2022, metaNesia has established several partnerships with leading brands, such as Honda and Fruit Tea, which were invited to try new business experiences within metaNesia's Metaverse. Based on this experience, we are ready to conquer new challenges to make metaNesia practicable by Pertamina Hulu Rokan as a training facility for its new employees," Telkom Digital Business Director Fajrin Rasyid said.
In today's digital disruption era, Metamesta's technological developments have successfully created new, interesting experiences for users. The metaNesia platform's use at PHR will be supported by virtual reality technology to strengthen the company's digital ecosystem in developing a virtual-based training system. The use of the Meta Nesia is expected to help provide a more interactive curriculum with more detailed visualizations so that it can assist in improving and developing employee competencies more efficiently.
"The existence of metaNesia as the first Metaverse platform and ecosystem in Indonesia shows our commitment in accelerating and prioritizing various development sectors in the country, including in the oil and gas sector. Telkom and Pertamina Hulu Rokan's collaboration is expected to be the first step in technological collaboration in the energy sector, which can advance and produce new technologies that play a role for both parties," Fajrin said.
"Exploring cooperation between PHR and metaNesia to develop Metaverse technology paves the way for broader business collaboration opportunities in the future. Using Metaverse technology to build the center of excellence will enable it to become a digital knowledge center with immersive technology from oil and gas activities such as health, safety and environment, drilling and completion, operations, and marine shipping in the Rokan work area in Sumatra and Jakarta. The aim is to increase and develop PHR workers' competence so that they keep abreast to the latest cutting-edge technological developments," President Director of PHR Jaffee Arizona Suardin said.
