Telkom Consistently Implements the SDGs programs to Support Improvement of Indonesians' Welfare and Quality of Life

Jakarta, 9 August 2023 –  PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk's (Telkom) has its social and environmental responsibility program as one of its efforts to contribute to sustainably improving the communities' welfare and quality of life. Through the program, Telkom undertakes various strategic initiatives in the social and environmental fields to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the area of social development.

"Telkom always strives to be present for Indonesia by providing the best contributions to support the sustainable improvement of the communities' welfare and quality of life through various social programs aimed at supporting the Sustainable Development Goals. We hope that all of these programs will directly benefit communities across Indonesia," SGM of the Community Development Center at Telkom, Hery Susanto said.

Telkom's strategic move starts with poverty alleviation, including programs such as building shelters and decent housing known as Rutilahu, assistance for communities affected by natural disasters, and support for the needs of micro, small, and medium enterprises. To date, Telkom has rolled out its poverty alleviation programs in 113 locations across Indonesia.

In the second strategic step, addressing hunger and eliminating all forms of malnutrition, Telkom provides assistance packages consisting of basic necessities for underprivileged communities and engages in social service activities for those affected by natural disasters and economically disadvantaged individuals. Additionally, Telkom also provides sacrificial animal donations in several locations throughout Indonesia.

Telkom's tangible efforts in combating hunger are also realized through the digital innovation of MyBidan and financial support for health clinics. Aid is distributed within Telkom's business areas across seven Telkom Regions, encompassing 227 locations.

Meanwhile, Telkom's third strategic step in achieving a healthy and prosperous life for all Indonesians has seen 260 locations throughout Indonesia benefit from Telkom's support. This includes support for handling and mitigating the Covid-19 pandemic nationwide, building infrastructure for communities such as places of worship, sanitation facilities, and school facilities, as well as assistance in the form of school supplies and scholarships for underprivileged children.

Furthermore, to achieve the goal of quality education for all segments of society, Telkom demonstrates its commitment through the construction and improvement of school facilities, as well as the provision of operational vehicles and 1,000 school uniforms distributed in several regions. Additional support is also provided through the digitalization of education, reaching more than 5,000 students, 4,000 teachers, and 80 schools as beneficiaries.

Through all the strategic steps that are part of the social and environmental responsibility program, Telkom remains committed to supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in various aspects of Indonesian society. The program's achievements have been spread across many locations throughout Indonesia, covering areas that require more attention such as the outermost, frontier, and underdeveloped regions.
