Jakarta, 11 May 2023 – PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom), in collaboration with the Telkom Education Foundation (YPT) organized the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Training Program for people with disabilities in 2023, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets and the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) principles to promote inclusive education through digital infrastructure support and digital talent education to enhance national digital literacy. The program's opening was held in a hybrid (online and offline) format recently, with Senior General Manager CDC Telkom, Hery Susanto, and YPT's President Director, Dodi Irawan in attendance.

SGM CDC Telkom, Hery Susanto, said in his opening speech that this program is aimed at enhancing the competencies and exploring the productive potential of young generations with disabilities. This program is also part of Telkom's support for inclusive development concerning empowering people with disabilities to provide equal opportunities in accessing and utilizing technology and to promote social and economic inclusion.

The training was simultaneously held in 12 Telkom high schools across Indonesia last April, involving 480 participants from various local disability communities. The training scheme was divided into three stages: preparation, which involved equipping all instructors/internal speakers of Telkom Schools with an introduction to disabilities and how to interact with people with disabilities (Disabilities Perspective Interactive Training). This was followed by the three-day training and the evaluation and mentoring stage.

Participants came from respective disability communities in each area, such as HWDI (Indonesian Women with Disabilities Association), Gerkatin, Difable Creative Community (DC2), and others. The training covered topics that included motivation (Great Spirit), Digital Marketing, graphic design, and content creation.

Hery also said that digital inclusion is not just a 'powerful weapon' in the fight against poverty and inequality but also a fundamental component in supporting social inclusion. "Digital inclusion lies at the core of the government's commitment to leave no one behind in achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and enables a socially just transition towards a more inclusive, fair, resilient, and sustainable future for all," Hery said.

The training, initiated by Telkom and YPT, is expected to accelerate digital inclusion, allowing all Indonesian citizens to inclusively benefit from it.
