Jakarta, 7 September 2021 – In response to developments in Indonesia's digital startup world, Indigo, a digital startup incubator and accelerator program that PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) owns, launched a new branding with #TransformNation tagline. This new brand emphasizes Indigo's purpose of its program to provide tangible access to make startup founders' vision in Indonesia a reality. In line with its vision to be the right place for startup founders in Indonesia, Indigo will realize its vision of digital innovation that can have a big impact for the state and the nation. Indigo's rebranding is aimed at responding to the challenges of changes that accelerate the development of the startup ecosystem and growth of Indonesia's digital economy.

Indigo is a comprehensive startup incubation or acceleration program with an end-to-end startup development program from nurturing creativity at the pre-startup stage, startup incubation and acceleration to business synergy programs and follow-on-funding. Indigo's digital startup incubation and acceleration program was first held in 2013 and Indigo regularly has startup batch intake twice a year.

"Indigo's rebranding is Telkom's response to adapting to changes in running digital startup incubation and acceleration programs in the 'New Normal' era due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The rebranding involves new changes internally in terms of managing its incubation program, and externally with new initiatives expected to be able to contribute to real digital economic growth in Indonesia," Fajrin Rasyid, Telkom Digital Business Director said in Jakarta (7/07). 9).

Since it was established as a digital startup incubation and acceleration program eight years ago, Indigo has nurtured 52,276 digital talents in 17 IndigoSpace (formerly known as “Digital Innovation Lounge” [DILo]) across Indonesia. Indigo has also fostered 194 startups from 15 types of industries, of which 91 alumni startups are still running their businesses in the domestic and international markets, while 28 are currently in the incubation/acceleration program, and 75 others have failed.

There are also 24 Indigo startups that have received continuing investment funding from various Venture Capital (VC) as well as domestic and foreign investors. On 8 September 2021, RUN System (the 2014 Indigo startup) will be the first Indigo alumni startup to be listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) by having an initial public offering using the RUNS stock code.

For eight years managing the incubation program, Indigo has contributed to digitizing Indonesia in various sectors such as smart city, commerce, financial, small medium enterprise, education, logistics, health, and enterprise. Some of these contributions were possible through collaboration with TelkomGroup. Indigo also has collaborations to support the growth of the startup ecosystem in Indonesia with various government agencies, including ministries and regional governments, universities, and the startup community.

In 2019 Indigo developed a special incubation program for game startups called IndigoGame, formerly known as “Indigo Game Startup Incubation” (IGSI). IndigoGame, which now has its 4th batch, aims to increase the market share of game content, which has huge potential to be developed by digital creatives in Indonesia. Of the 30 game startups that have participated in IndigoGame since 2019, some of them have even attracted the interest of a number of global publishers to publish this game from Indonesia.

Indigo's new outlook that it is developing by this rebranding are as follows:

  1. Changing the name from Indigo Creative Nation, as Telkom's digital startup incubation and acceleration program to Indigo;
  2. Digital Innovation Lounge (DILo) as Indigo's creative camp that foster digital talents in 17 cities in Indonesia now has a new name, IndigoSpace;
  3. Changing the name Digital Valley (DiVa) as Indigo's creative center, where Indigo-fostered startup founders work, in 4 cities in Indonesia (Bandung, Jogja, Jakarta, and Makassar) to IndigoHub;
  4. Changing the startup batch intake mechanism, which is held twice a year, by conducting bootcamp activities first with reliable startup mentors to improve the quality and sharpen the startup business plan;
  5. Launching Indigo Connect, an official Indigo community for startup enthusiasts to provide mutual support and collaboration with one another;
  6. Launching Indigo Academy, an online learning media accessible by Indigo Connect members that contains best practice materials in the digital startup industry.

Indigo is also reopening Indigo startup intake batch 2 - 2021 in September 202 . Startups that successfully pass the selection will participate in an incubation/acceleration program equipped with various facilities that support startup development.

Some examples of Indigo's successful incubated and accelerated startups apart from the RUN System, which will hold its initial public offering in the near future, include PrivyID (digital signature application), IZY (mobile concierge provider), Verihubs (Artificial Intelligence [AI]-based data verification service provider), Nodeflux (AI-based video analytic application), Muslim Life (Muslim family education platform), Optiongo (online booking platform and corporate travel management), Goers (online ticketing system), Osman (business support application for village-run enterprise activities), OnTruck (logistics platform on-demand), and Bahaso (a foreign language e-learning platform).
