Jakarta, 14 February 2023 - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) as a state-owned enterprise that drives the national economy is committed not only to strengthening digitalization but also to equitable development of infrastructure and public facilities. This is Telkom's real step to support the government's efforts to boost progress of an evenly-distributed national development. Telkom carries out its infrastructure and public facilities development through various sustainable programs that focus on infrastructure access in rural areas.
Telkom's contribution to development of public facilities in rural areas includes bridges construction, roads construction and repair, establishment of road support facilities, and public street lighting facilities. Throughout 2022, Telkom has carried out this development program in 15 villages across Indonesia. In its implementation, Telkom prioritizes access roads construction to educational facilities and economic centers for village communities to ensure feasibility and safety.
Telkom's support for public infrastructure and facilities development is also manifested in a house renovation program and residential facilities for villagers in remote areas. The program aims to assist the community in improving their standard of living by having a decent place to live. Apart from that, Telkom is also constructing public facilities, especially by renovating houses of worship around residential areas. In 2022, Telkom has successfully renovated 30 housing units and more than 100 houses of worship and repaired access roads.
The two programs were implemented as an effort to achieve the goal 11 the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in encouraging sustainable improvements in the community's economic welfare as well as the sustainability and quality of the social and social environment. Through these programs, Telkom can be more directly involved in community development and can have a greater positive impact on society in line with the implementation of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG).
"We are optimistic that we will continue to encourage development of public facilities or residences for communities and villages that need renovation. This development program will certainly continue to be carried out in a sustainable manner by also prioritizing the company's business approach," Telkom SGM Community Development Center Hery Susanto said.
