Jakarta, 24 September 2022 – PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom), through its umbrella brand Leap-Telkom Digital (Leap) actively contributes to accelerating the realization of the industrial revolution 4.0, following the government's initiative and strategic plan to develop the country's various potentials through the use of technology, especially by making the most use of Internet of Things (IoT) technology and forging a collaboration between Antares and Everynet, a global company and operator to provide a Long Range Wide Area Network (LoRaWAN).

The collaboration will enable many companies to use IoT from the national LoRaWAN network for their needs. LoRaWAN also plays a role in opening up the network for the wireless telecommunication area that provides long-range, low-power communications.

Telkom Digital Business Director Muhamad Fajrin Rasyid said the use of IoT provides convenience in the connectivity process as the main component that helps devices to connect to a specified network. Through IoT, connections can be made more quickly and practically without using cables. “IoT uses intelligent technology that ensures network connections and devices run smoothly. Of course this makes any job easy. Without a connectivity network connection, IoT will not be able to function properly," Fajrin said.

As a provider of low-cost, end-to-end IoT solutions, the Antares and Everynet collaboration provides a rapidly growing network. To date, the network coverage has reached 219 cities representing 47% of the country's GDP and will continue to expand to cover new potential places. “The partnership between Everynet and Telkom continues to be very positive thanks to Telkom's central role in the Indonesian telecommunications market. Many companies in Indonesia are already enjoying the benefits of the nation-wide LoRaWAN network as a reliable, secure, cost-effective connection and long battery life that connects billions of devices to the cloud,” Everynet CEO Lawrence Latham said.

In addition, the widespread use of the IoT network can be a sustainable initiative. According to Latham, IoT can be used for early warning systems during floods and early detection of forest fires to help minimize damage and protect the environment. "We hope to provide useful solutions to more organizations across Indonesia to drive digital transformation and sustainability," Latham said.

The IoT market in Indonesia is expected to continue to grow and become one of the most potential ecosystems in Indonesia. Therefore, Telkom plans to develop a Center of Excellence for IoT Research and Development in Indonesia and open collaborations to strengthen coverage, capability, and shared capacity.

Antares is part of Leap, an umbrella brand for Telkom's digital products and services to accelerate the digitization of Indonesian society. With Leap, Telkom hoped it can support the growth of the digital ecosystem in Indonesia in order to accelerate the realization of national digital sovereignty, in line with the government's target in the coming years.
