Jakarta, 26 April 2019 – The President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo has opened the Moslem District Destination, Halal Park in the Gelora Bung Karno Senayan Complex, Jakarta, in a bid to support economic growth and develop the halal industry in Indonesia. To To increase public awareness about Halal Park, State Owned Enterprise (SOE) Ministry, PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) and PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (Wika) held a media gathering on Friday (26/4). 

Media colleagues and influencers from SOEs millennial were among those attending the gathering themed "The Future of Halal Industry in Indonesia". The event kicked off with a talkshow featuring Special Staff III to the SOE Minister, Wianda Pusponegoro, Wika Director of Human Resources and Development, Novel Arsyad, Telkom Deputy Executive General Manager of Coherence & Innovation Management, Ery Punta Hendraswara, Elsa Maharani (Wardah Cosmetic Public Relations) and Dian Maya Puspitasari (PR Expert - Big Change Agency) with Hanna Faridl from HIJUP as moderator.

As a digital telco company, PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) is committed to supporting the program that President Widodo launched to promote Indonesia's halal industry worldwide. Through its Indigo Creative Nation program, Telkom is ready to serve as an incubator, accelerator and catalyst that fosters ideas from Indonesia’s brightest minds.

Telkom Corporate Communication Vice President Arif Prabowo said that Telkom has 4 Digital Valleys and 17 Digital Innovation Lounges located across the country, as well as a co-working space at Halal Park that widely accommodates every community's creativity in developing the halal industry, and validate the ideas into a product and innovation in accordance to market needs.

"The halal industry is potential to make the nation's economy stronger and promote Indonesia to the world. Telkom, which has been consistently implementing a culture of innovation, is ready to make this happen by providing various facilities such as co-working space, fast internet access, coaching and mentoring, which digital creative industry players and the general public can utilize to develop their ideas into competitive products,” Arif explained.

As a country with the world’s largest Muslim population, the halal industry in Indonesia is growing very rapidly. According to the Global Muslim Travel Index, Indonesian halal tourism ranks first out of 130 countries, including Malaysia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Morocco, Bahrain, Oman, Brunei and other countries. This makes the halal lifestyle industry as a breath of fresh air for national economic growth.

Lebih lanjut, tahun 2018 sebanyak 140 juta wisatawan muslim datang ke Indonesia dengan total spending online hingga USD 35 miliar. Jumlah turis muslim dunia terus meningkat dari tahun ke tahun, dan tahun 2020 diproyeksikan akan mencapai jumlah 158 juta orang.

Moreover, 140 million Muslim tourists visited Indonesia in 2018, with online spending totaling up to USD35 billion. The number of Muslim tourists from around the world continues to rise every year and it is estimated to reach 158 million people in 2020.

Visitors at Halal Park can browse and enjoy a variety of fashion and food and beverages tenants available in the park. As the executive coordinator of Halal Park, the SOE Ministry plays its part to contribute in the event by showcasing fashion and food an beverage products from SOE Creative Home products (RKB) fostered by several state-owned enterprises companies. Halal Park will serve as an ecosystem for business people engaged in the upstream to downstream halal lifestyle industry, which is not just fashion and food and beverage business, but also other fields such as tourism, education and finance.
