Jakarta, 26 July 2023 – PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) through one of its subsidiaries PT Telkom Data Ekosistem (NeutraDC) is more focused on developing its data center business while continuing to practice the environmental, social, and corporate governance principles through collaboration with energy firm PT Medco Power Indonesia (Medco Power) to realize a joint commitment towards net zero emissions in Indonesia. The two parties marked their collaboration by signing a memorandum of understanding during the 11th Indonesia New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Conference & Exhibition (EBTKE ConEx) at ICE BSD City, Tangerang, Banten, last week.

The collaboration paves the way for the two companies to carry out joint studies on green energy power as well as provide renewable energy for the NeutraDC Database in Batam.

President Director of Telkom Data Ecosystem (NeutraDC), Andreuw Th. A.F. said that the Hyperscale Data Center building was designed with a decarbonization concept and it is in line with NeutraDC principles on renewable energy use. “We are very enthusiastic about this collaboration. Net zero emission has always been a concern for our company. "We also want to play a role in implementing Indonesia's net zero emission target by 2060," said Andreuw.

He also said that NeutraDC is committed to implementing decarbonization because it requires large electricity capacity to run Hyperscale Data Center operation.

Previously, Medco Power had signed a memorandum of understanding to form a joint venture to develop and build Telkom Indonesia's data center in Batam in June 2022. Forging collaboration in a memorandum of understanding marks the initial step for both parties to engage in discussions and evaluations to formulate a green data center concept.

NeutraDC has a hyperscale data center in Cikarang that uses renewable energy to operate the data center in collaboration with Pertamina Power Indonesia (PPI).

Moreover, NeutraDC is also building a hyperscale data center in Batam on a 5-hectare land. It also plans to establish three international standard campuses with a 51-megawatt information technology capacity load, the Batam hyperscale data center will also use renewable, environmentally friendly energy and adopt a multi-tier system, in order to maintain optimal data security.

In the future, NeutraDC hopes to continue using renewable energy in all its data centers to support better environmental sustainability.
