Jakarta, 25 October 2021 – PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) on Friday (22/10) won an award in the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Awards held by UN Women Indonesia. The award recognizes Telkom for its commitment and efforts as a company that promotes gender equality in the work environment. Telkom won an honorable mention award in the gender-inclusive workplace category. It recognizes the company's achievements in implementing gender-inclusive efforts in the workplace, including in carrying out innovative approaches to equal and non-discriminatory recruitment, providing flexible work arrangements, supporting equal roles of women and men in carrying out their duties. household work includes child nurturing, ensuring the safety and well-being of female and male employees, reducing the gender pay gap and promoting women's career and leadership development.

Telkom Human Capital Management Director Afriwandi and Srikandi TelkomGroup community continuously strive to promote gender equality in the workplace. This shows that Telkom is a company that embraces diversity and inclusiveness. “This award is an appreciation for all TelkomGroup employees. WEPs Awards Indonesia 2021 is an award held by the WeEmpowerAsia program and funded by the European Union. The award was created to appreciate companies in Indonesia for their initiatives in overcoming gender inequality and supporting the active participation of women to support the national economy. There were 228 applications from 138 companies that the panel of 10 judges selected in six categories: Leadership, youth leadership, gender responsive marketplace, gender inclusive workplace, transparency and reporting, and community engagement and collaboration.

The WEPs Awards Indonesia 2021 panel of judges consists of business and development sectors professionals with experience in gender equality and women's economic empowerment issues, namely Eko Novi Ariyanti, Assistant Deputy for Participation of Professional Institutions and the Business World of the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection; Marina Berg, Swedish Ambassador to Indonesia, Timor-Leste and ASEA; Dewi Meisari Haryanti, Head of Studies of the Indonesian Employers' Association (APINDO), Tendy Gunawan, National Program Officer of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Indonesia; Petty Siti Fatimah, Editorial Director PT Prana Dinamika Sejahtera & CCO Femina, Devi Asmarani, Editor-in-Chief of Magdalene and other professionals. 

WEPs is a UN Women and the UN Global Compact initiative that aims to empower women to participate fully in all sectors of the economy and outlines seven steps for businesses to achieve it in the workplace, marketplace and community. To date, more than 3,800 companies worldwide have signed WEPs, including 145 companies from Indonesia.
