Garnering Transactions of Rp353.7 Billion in Total for SMEs and Attracting 7,079 Tourists Participating in the Walking Tour

Jakarta, 21 November 2023 - Indonesia has the potential to develop a strong economic base with micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as one of its main foundations, with the rising number of MSMEs in Indonesia that reached 64.2 million units, contributing to 60.51% of gross domestic product and employing nearly 96.92% of the total national workforce. Recognizing the crucial role of MSMEs, the Indonesian government continues to strive to promote the transformation of MSMEs to adapt to developments and elevate their status.

In line with these efforts, the government, through the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkomarves), the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, and the Creative Economy and Tourism Agency, with the Jakarta Provincial Government as the campaign manager, organized the "Harvesting Day" as the peak of the National Pride of Indonesian Products (Gernas BBI) and Proud Tourism in Indonesia (BBWI) movements at Taman Fatahillah, West Jakarta (19/11).

Acting Jakarta Governor Heru Budi Hartono, Deputy for Tourism and Creative Economy Coordination of Kemenkomarves, Odo R. M. Manuhutu, and the Expert Staff for Finance and MSME Development of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, Loto S. Ginting were present at the event.  Other attendees included the Executive Director - Head of the Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative Office for Jakarta, Arlyana Abu Bakar, the Head of the Jakarta MSMEs and Cooperatives Agency, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, the Head of the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Andhika Permata, and Telkom Strategic Portfolio Director, Budi Setyawan Wijaya, along with many other related officials.

The event, themed "Jakarta's Creations for a Great Indonesia," was held to increase public awareness about the importance of utilizing and developing diverse products and tourism in Indonesia by boosting the nation's confidence in the potential and quality of products made in Indonesia.

This is in line with Presidential Decree No. 15 of 2021 on the Team for National Pride of Indonesian Products Movement, which states that the BBI Movement was launched to further strengthen national economic growth through the empowerment of micro, small, and medium enterprises, including small and medium industries.

"This program is the central government and the Jakarta provincial administration's joint effort to provide, develop, and promote Indonesian-made products. Hopefully, next year, it can be held again in Jakarta ahead of Jakarta's anniversary in the coming years," said Jakarta acting governor Heru Budi Hartono.

To provide a broader marketing platform and enliven the event, there were 70 booths from MSMEs that Bank Indonesia, State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), and the Jakarta provincial administration have been fostering featured in the exhibition, which showcased outstanding MSME products. Moreover, Harvesting Day also served as an award ceremony for the winners of competitions held earlier as part of the BBI-BBWI Movement, and presented various entertainment ranging from performances of regional dances to artists from the capital city.

The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, as the co-campaign manager along with state-owned enterprises particularly PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom), actively participated in organizing the activities. The Expert Staff for Finance and MSME Development of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, Loto Srinaita Ginting, said that the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, and the Jakarta provincial administration, Bank Indonesia, and state-owned enterprises, collaborated to drive the economy by ensuring the success of the BBU-BBWI Movement in Jakarta. This collaboration is a tangible manifestation of efforts to elevate MSMEs through many programs and activities.

"Since its kickoff on 8 September 2023, we have held several activities to elevate MSMEs, including training and mentoring sessions for MSMEs, business competitions, and mentoring for young designers from vocational high schools. There has also been an increase in the number of MSMEs that were on board e-commerce platforms and the expansion of market access through product showcases such as bazaars and business matching events organized by the Jakarta Provincial Government and SOEs through the PaDi UMKM program," Loto said.

Since the beginning of September, there have been numerous achievements to date, including over 200 training and mentoring sessions for MSMEs involving 12,533 participants, business competitions and mentoring for young designers from vocational high schools. Additionally, the expansion of marketing access through offline product showcases and the implementation of the UMKM Bazaar for Indonesia, including business matching events organized by the Jakarta Provincial Government and state-owned enterprises with MSMEs, has resulted in Rp353.7 billion transactions. In terms of tourism, 7,079 tourists participated in the Walking Tour program, visiting various tourist destinations such as Kota Tua, the TOD Blok M area, Erevald, Seribu Islands, Cilincing, Pasar Baru, Jatinegara, and Public Transportation Tours. All of these achievements are expected to serve as evidence of the success of the synergistic BBI-BBWI national movement while strengthening the government's commitment, along with stakeholders, to promote MSME products and entrepreneurs and the growth of the tourism economy, especially in the Jakarta area.

In line with this, Telkom Indonesia, as a state-owned enterprise, remains committed to supporting the government's efforts in creating globally competitive MSMEs. "Telkom continues to support the transformation of Indonesian MSMEs to boost their standing. This includes various programs through PaDi UMKM, such as business matching, providing IT solutions for SMEs, and participating in the BBI-BBWI movement. Our participation is not limited to telecommunications network support but also includes our supported MSMEs and other programs. Through this program, we hope to energize MSMEs not only in Jakarta but also in other regions because this is a rolling program," Telkom Strategic Portfolio Director, Budi Setyawan Wijaya said.

Harvesting Day is expected to motivate MSMEs to further improve their quality and adaptability, enabling them to elevate their status and compete globally in supporting the creation of Indonesia's digital economic ecosystem.
