TelkomGroup Fulfilled Telecommunication Traffic Demands in the Main Stadium and Support Zones 

Jakarta, 14 November 2023 – President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo kicked off the internationally renowned football tournament, FIFA U-17 World Cup Indonesia 2023at Gelora Stadion Bung Tomo, Surabaya, on Friday (10/11). The grand opening ceremony was followed by Indonesia's first match against Ecuador.

PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom), as the provider of telecommunication network infrastructure for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Indonesia 2023, ensures the quality and traffic of the telecommunication network throughout the tournament, which runs until early December. This includes the quality of the telecommunication network during the opening ceremony and the opening match, in a packed stadium with tens of thousands of spectators.

Telkom Network & IT Service Director, Herlan Wijanarko, has affirmed the quality and readiness of the telecommunication network and services provided by Telkom in the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium area and its surrounding zones. "As of today (10/11), Telkom ensures that all telecommunication infrastructure support is 100 percent ready. We guarantee that the network quality is robust with optimal capacity to meet the needs of the visitors attending the opening ceremony and the first match today. We have also deployed BTS (Base Transceiver Stations) and combat in the stadium and its vicinity to ensure that we fulfill the telecommunication traffic for the visitors," Herlan said.

To support the success of this global football event, TelkomGroup has provided a range of telecommunication network infrastructure support across all main stadiums and supporting areas, including Astinet, fixed and mobile broadband, and access points. To ensure security against cyber threats, TelkomGroup has also deployed cybersecurity measures throughout the event.

In addition to ensuring connectivity at stadium locations, Telkom ensures high-quality telecommunication networks at the media center to support the smooth dissemination of information by media personnel. "Media personnel are crucial as they are the ones broadcasting information. We have specially prepared the media center, and we guarantee that the bandwidth will facilitate smooth, easy, and efficient information transfer," Herlan said.

Director General of Information and Public Communication at the Ministry of Information and Telecommunication Appreciated Telecommunication Network Quality at the Media Center

On a separate occasion, before the opening ceremony, Director General of Information and Public Communication at the Ministry of Information and Telecommunication Usman Kansong visited the FIFA U-17 World Cup Indonesia 2023 Media Center, which was set up as a collaboration between the Ministry of Information and Telecommunication and Telkom as the telecommunication network provider.

Usman Kansong appreciates TelkomGroup's reliability in providing telecommunication network infrastructure, particularly internet networks, for international events. He emphasized the critical importance of telecommunication networks, stressing the need for top-notch quality, as many rely on internet networks to access matches and produce news content for broadcasting. Telkom's provision of excellent internet and telecommunication networks fulfills this requirement.
