Sleman, 27 April 2019 – Telkom Group remains commited to develop the country by contributing to the national economy, including the villages, and Telkom shows its commitment by establishing a Village Economic Chamber (Balkondes). Today (27/4), TelkomGroup launches the Sambirejo (Tebing Breksi) Balkondes located in Prambanan Sub-District of Sleman District, Special Region of Yogyakarta. Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Rini M. Soemarno, Sleman District Head Sri Purnomo, Telkom President Director Alex J. Sinaga and Telkomsel President Director Ririek Adriansyah were present at the launch. 

On this occasion, SOE Minister Rini M. Soemarno said the establishment of Balkondes was part of SOEs efforts to take part in improving the rural communities’s economy by providing various facilities and infrastructure to support the village economy. "For this reason, I thank Telkom and Telkomsel for building the Sambirejo Balkondes. Hopefully locals can use them properly”.

Telkom President Director Alex J. Sinaga said, “Balkondes Sambirejo that Telkomsel established is TelkomGroup’s contribution, as part of the BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri (SOEs Are There for the Nation) that contributes to empowering the local potential especially in benefiting from digital technology. The Balkondes will be the center of activities for village micro, small and medium enterprises to develop local crafts and culinary, by facilitating workshops and serving as galleries. We also support Balkondes and all facilities available in Sambirejo tourism village with information and communication technology so everyone is integrated.” 

In developing Sambirejo tourism village, TelkomGroup built the Balkondes with facilities for a homestay where tourists can stay and enjoy the beautiful rural environment with the hilly surroundings. In addition, the group also bulit a Joglo house, or a traditonal Javanese house, an amphitheater as a stage for arts and cultural performances, a Pergola, Joglo Gallery that serves as meeting rooms and galleries, Joglo Limasan where micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) can organize workshops and serve as exhbition venues for the MSMEs, Green Garden, and a restaurant. 

The 2,500-meter square wide Balkondes in Sambirejo village is now equipped with a variety of digital technology-based services, such as digital payment systems with LinkAja for parking systems, food courts, car rental  companies to rent Jeep, and payment for accommodation and meeting rooms.


The Balkondes is strategically located with the Prambanan Temple complex is about 7km away and very close to the Ratu Boko Temple complex, Ijo Temple, Barong Temple, and Banyunibo Temple. The tourists will be able to enjoy the scenery overlooking the rocky hills of Breksi which has beautiful patterns and mountains such as Mount Merapi and Mount Pegat.

TelkomGroup projects Sambirejo village will become a Digital Heritage village, or a tourist village that combines digital technology with a rural atmosphere characteristics with a variety of cultural, artistic, educational and agro-tourism activities.

"With Sambirejo Balkondes’s charm and beauty in, we hope that more tourists will visit this region. In the future, Balkondes Sambirejo will be managed by a village-owned enterprise (Bumdes). Therefore, all revenues that the balkondes generate will belong to the village. Therefore, it will increase the economy in the village of Sambirejo," Alex said.
