Jakarta, 30 August 2022 - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) through the Indonesia Telecommunication and Digital Research Institute (ITDRI) established an international partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology-Industrial Liaison Program (MIT-ILP), United States in the fields of joint learning, innovation, and research, in light of Indonesia's focus on accelerating digital transformation by developing digital talents. The cooperation also took into account the fast-developing and wider technological developments that are increasingly influencing people's lives.
MIT is the world's best technology institute that has successfully produced a lot of research, knowledge, innovation, and alumni who have had an impact on technological developments in the world. Not only that, they also have the most complete library, laboratory, technology journal in the world with facilities that are accessible virtually or offline. Given the shared missions that MIT and Telkom-ITDRI have, to be a place to develop and produce world-class digital talents with Telkom-ITDRI international relations with MIT-ILP are expected to meet the needs of various parties in preparing learning journeys for digital talent candidates that suit global industry demands.
Welcoming the MIT representatives arrival, Chairman of ITDRI Jemy V. Confido said that ITDRI took the initiative to establish a relationship under the penta-helix scheme consisting of government, business partners, academies, tech providers and the community. But it is not only penta-helix agents in Indonesia, but also from all over the world, including MIT, known as a leading university in the world.
"To achieve ITDRI's vision and mission in the fields of research, learning and innovation, collaboration with MIT, which is one of the best universities in the field of technology and innovation, is expected to open opportunities and access we need to boost ITDRI's capabilities in terms of experts, talent preparation, and research and innovation management. We hope that ITDRI and MIT collaboration can accelerate the innovators' preparedness in problem resolutions, proposing ideas for solutions and preparing their innovations so that they are ready to go through the validation stages towards Go To Market or Go To Operation," Jemy said.
Group Coordinator of Learning Expert, ITDRI Innovator & Researcher, Muhammad Subhan Iswahyudi said he really appreciated this starting point and hoped that this partnership will expand and can further optimize opportunities with MIT. "We will provide facilities to access MIT resources based on an IoT partnership. I believe there will be opportunities for discussions with MIT professors, mentoring opportunities, access to databases, access to articles, and so on. Not only that, we also want to have more opportunities in the future, which covers more than research, but also cover ITDRI's learning and innovation pillars," Subhan said.
MIT representative at the event, Prof. Chuan Zhang Tang as the Program Director of MIT-ILP said he was very happy with Telkom and ITDRI's enthusiasm to become members of the MIT industrial program.
