Jakarta, 8 March 2022 – PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) continues to strengthen its position in the telecommunications tower business. Telkom through its subsidiary, PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk (Mitratel) is currently working on a fiberization program for connectivity between base transceiver stations or BTS of a number of telecommunications operator companies in Indonesia. This program will increase the number of Mitratel towers connected to the fiber optic network and it will accelerate the digitization process in Indonesia and become a major step for Mitratel as the leading digital infrastructure company to push for digital economy development in Indonesia. In the future, internet users will not have to worry anymore as they will be able to use a buffer-free and lag-free internet free of charge.

Telkom Strategic Portfolio Director, Budi Setyawan Wijaya said, "Telkom fully supports the fiberization that Mitratel undertakes through various strategic steps. Technological developments require operators to have a greater need for telecommunication towers. Therefore, TelkomGroup through Mitratel quickly seized this opportunity to strengthen its position as the largest telecommunications tower player in Indonesia and eventually in Southeast Asia. This is in line with Mitratel's strategy for optimal value creation. This fiberization is of course also an effort to improve the quality of internet access throughout Indonesia."

TelkomGroup's support for Mitratel's fiberization steps is evident through several fiberization methods such as capacity-based, hybrid capacity, and dark fiber that utilizes Telkom's and Mitratel's fiber optic assets.

Last December, Mitratel expanded its fiber optic service coverage by building and leasing 5,700 km of fiber optic network nationwide. This network strengthening will improve the distribution and quality of mobile broadband through 4G and 5G BTS. This development will add a total of 1,500 Mitratel towers connected to the optical network. From the initial 11,914 towers connected to the optical network, there will be 13,414 Mitratel towers connected to the optical network. The Mitratel fiberization program kicked off in early 2022.

“This program is in line with the company's target to increase its competitive advantage and make Mitratel a leader in the business tower market through increasing the tenancy ratio to support business growth after the IPO. Business expansion through various organic and inorganic collaborations is necessary because the market is growing rapidly,” Managing Director of Mitratel Theodorus Ardi Hartoko said.

Mitratel listed its shares through an Initial Public Offering or IPO on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) on 22 November  2021. The company with MTEL stock code released 23,493,524,800 shares with a total IPO value of 18.79 trillion rupiah. By listing on the IDX, Mitratel expects to become a bigger and more independent telecommunications tower company that supports Indonesia's digitalization and spur digital economy growth.
