Jakarta, 6 January 2023 - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) as the backbone of digitalization in Indonesia organizes the third edition of Innovillage program, an annual young sociopreneurship competition in the field of digital technology. The program, initiated by the Telkom Community Development Center together with Telkom University, is in accordance with the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises' direction. There were 1,442 students from 120 universities from 25 provinces in Indonesia with 363 social project proposals that participated in the competition.

The highlight of the Innovillage competition, titled "Young Heroes in Action #DigitalForAll", was held offline and online or in a hybrid manner recently at the Telkom University Bandung auditorium and with viewers from all over Indonesia. Telkom Human Capital Management Telkom Director Afriwandi, academics from various universities, and members of TelkomGroup were among the participants at the cap of the competition. This year's Innovillage, a group of experts from Telkom and representatives from several universities in Indonesia were involved as judges to assess and select the social project proposals.

Students participating in the program executed their social projects, which were selected as the top 150, by going directly into the community for seven weeks. During that period, every week the participants took part in virtual mentoring from experts to develop their capabilities in improving the quality of the social innovation projects that they will produce. In the next stage, based on the results of evaluation and monitoring of the social projects execution in the field, the juries selected 25 semifinalists to advance to the final round.

The top 25 semi finalists were engaged in training and coaching at a bootcamp session in preparation for the online pitching final round, which involved judges from the education sector and professional practitioners. Some of the approaches used in online pitching consist of solutions proposed to answer community's concerns, projects that have been executed and benefited by the community, the level of usefulness both qualitatively and quantitatively, the novelty of the innovations proposed, and collaboration with the community and local government.

A team from Telkom University with its innovation of Automatic Tea Garden Watering with Renewable Energy (Solar Panels) won The Best of The Best Award in the Innovillage competition. This digital innovation is designed to facilitate activities and increase farmers productivity, especially in the tea plantation sector in West Java. The jury's assessment of this innovation has gone through a rigorous selection process and objective measurement of its usefulness and impact on society. In addition, the Automatic Tea Garden Watering innovation is also considered to have great potential for sustainability and future development.

"The Innovillage program is held not only to hone the young generation's technical and analytical skills but also as one of Telkom's efforts to build the country through village development. We believe young digital talents can come up with innovations to provide positive solutions and benefits for society," Telkom Human Capital Management Director Afriwandi said.

All winners of the Innovillage competition capped the year of 2022 by receiving education and social project development funds as a form of appreciation and support for the sustainability of their ongoing projects, so that they can have a social impact on society. With a total funding of 2.25 billion rupiah, the students are expected to continuously produce applicable innovations and are aimed toward achieving the 11th point of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on sustainable settlements, so that they can have many impacts on society, the economy and the environment.
