Semarang, 24 August 2022 – PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) as a driving force to realize digitalization in Indonesia, remains committed to support digitization acceleration in all regions in Indonesia, including the city of Semarang, Central Java, with the inauguration of IndigoSpace Semarang Digital Creative (SDK). Telkom Digital Business Director Muhamad Fajrin Rashid, Telkom EVP Regional IV Rijanto Utomo, Telkom EVP Digital Business and Technology Division Saiful Hidajat, Mayor of Semarang Dr. H. Hendrar Prihadi, SE., MM., and Chairman of the Semarang City Council, Kadar Lusman, SE were present at the event.

IndigoSpace SDK Semarang is rebranding and further development of Semarang Digital Creative (SDK), which Semarang city administration initiated in 2016 as space for Semarang youth who are information technology enthusiasts to develop their entrepreneurship and digital capabilities. Through Telkom and Semarang City Government cooperation, IndigoSpace SDK Semarang activities, apart from fostering and developing digital start-ups, will also feature PaDi UMKM Corner as the coaching place for micro, small, medium enterprises (MSMEs)  and other non-digital communities to go digital.

PaDi UMKM Corner provides a mini studio for the MSMEs to photograph their products and to make their products more interesting and presentable when they are uploaded to a marketplace or e-commerce platform. It also has the Indigo Media program as a special program for selected MSMEs in the greater Semarang area aimed to assist them in visual display of products, digital marketing, videography, and copywriting, and enable the MSME players to  have good digital skills to promote their product digitally.

Mayor of Semarang Hendrar Prihadi appreciated Telkom for the collaboration. “Hopefully with SDK rebranding, this IndigoSpace SDK will soon enable Semarang's young generation to become empowered businessmen that could contribute to the city economy," Hendrar said.

“We created this IndigoSpace SDK Semarang as a workshop that brings together digital start-ups, creative communities and MSMEs that need to digitize their products and to go digital, especially on the PaDi UMKM platform. There are many creative communities such as photography, design, videography in Semarang that work together with MSMEs in the city to boost transaction and the number of MSMEs joining the PaDi UMKM platform. The start-ups can also validate their business or digital products," Telkom EVP Digital Business and Technology Saiful Hidajat said.

Telkom Digital Business Director Muhamad Fajrin Rashid said digitization is necessary. MSMEs that don't use digital means only have 40% success level, while MSMEs that take advantage of digital means have the opportunity to succeed by 80%, and they can even increase it up to 4x. Therefore, Telkom established IndigoSpace as a communal space for digital start-ups and creative communities to collaborate with MSMEs and could contribute positively for the MSMEs and digital industry.

“We hope this IndigoSpace SDK can produce something good, be it innovation or breakthrough to support Semarang's digital industry and Central Java in general, and especially to help MSMEs develop their business in the digital world," Fajrin said.
