Mataram, 5 November 2021 – In accordance with the government's efforts to establish Mandalika as one of the five Super Priority Tourism Destinations set by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) as a state-owned digital telecommunications company takes part in supporting government programs by providing digital connectivity, platforms and services. Telkom is present as a digital telco partner that is ready to support digitalization in the Mandalika area, especially at the Mandalika International Street Circuit serving as the venue for a series of prestigious international events such as World Superbike and MotoGP.

To ensure its information & communication technology (ICT) network infrastructure readiness in the Mandalika International Street Circuit area, TelkomGroup conducted rehearsal network tests with Governor of West Nusa Tenggara Zulkieflimansyah, Telkom Commissioners Rizal Mallarangeng and Wawan Iriawan, Telkom Network & IT Solution Director Herlan Wijanarko, Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation Business Development Director Ema Widiastuti, ITDC Nusantara Utility Director Hari Wibisono, Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) Head of Hospitality Rully Habibie and TelkomGroup directors and senior leaders in attendance. The rehearsal tests were held at Telkom Mataram Office, Wednesday (3 /11). The rehearsals carried out tests on backbone infrastructure, access networks and services from the submarine cables and IP radio.

In his remarks, West Nusa Tenggara Governor  Zulkieflimansyah expressed his appreciation and optimism for Telkom's support in providing ICT infrastructure and services in Mandalika as the venue of the World Superbike in November 2021 and MotoGP in March 2022. "On behalf of the West Nusa Tenggara government, we would like to thank Telkom for assuring that the society can enjoy and witness what it wants in an extraordinary way.”

Rizal Mallarangeng, as a representative of Telkom Board of Commissioners, said that Telkom has firmly supported and prepared the backbone infrastructure in Mandalika - as it has done during the National Games (PON) XX in Papua - so that the circuit is more sophisticated and notable in the international arena as a venue for major events. “Thank you, Telkom, for your contribution. Hopefully, NTB can become a leading digital province,” Rizal said.

Telkom Network & IT Solution Director, Herlan Wijanarko said, "Telkom is preparing all ICT facilities and services in collaboration with the ITDC Group for Mandalika, one of the super priority destinations. Thank you, the ITDC Group, the NTB Provincial Government and the Indonesian Government who continue to trust Telkom in preparing and overseeing the ICT infrastructure for the country’s various major events."

Herlan said Telkom ensures Mandalika’s infrastructure and services are in prime condition with good alternative backup configurations. The network tests were also carried out to ensure that infrastructure such as backbone lines, both the main and alternative routes work well, regional transport lines and others. "Hopefully by providing ICT and digitalization facilities, it manifests as TelkomGroup's contribution to advancing Indonesia, especially NTB, for the better," Herlan said.

Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation Business Development Director Ema Widiastuti said Mandalika area was the second area that the government assigned to ITDC to be developed, covering an area up to 3.5 times the size of Bali’s Nusa Dua area that ITDC had developed. However, developing this area had seemed exponentially faster due to the support of very reliable partners, including Telkom, to jointly develop Mandalika. “TelkomGroup in this case does not just support Mandalika to host major events, but also provides ICT infrastructure for hotels and supporting facilities in the area. The circuit is one thing, but we are not just developing the circuit. There will be hotels and other facilities development. We hope that Telkom and ITDC can become excellent partners, not only to develop Mandalika but also other next super priority destination that will result in a good reputation for Indonesia,” Ema said.

TelkomGroup has two main roles in supporting digitalization in Mandalika area, as an ICT infrastructure provider and as a supporter of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the ecosystem surrounding the area. For ICT infrastructure, TelkomGroup has deployed a network that includes backbone expansion, fiber optic installation at the venue and its supporting ecosystem, to adding Telkomsel's Node B Combat in order to meet ICT requirement of 7.22 Gbps in the area. This support is available in the MASIV (Media, Accommodation, Security, International Airport, and Venue) areas with services that includes View, Internet, and Phone (VIP).

For its support to MSMEs, TelkomGroup provides Point of Sales (PoS) for merchandise and food & beverage vendors as well as management supports for homestays around the Mandalika area, by providing booking platforms and apps. Telkom provides this support through various booking platforms and apps that TelkomGroup owns, such as Padi UMKM, My Sooltan, Wonderin, and Travel Aja.

In order to ensure security of ICT infrastructure and services during the events being held in the Mandalika area, TelkomGroup has also established supporting on-site posts with multi-level escalation routes ranging from local, regional, to national.

"Through collaboration and the spirit to synergize, we hope that we can jointly succeed in hosting major world events in Mandalika and create a good image for Indonesia in the international stage, and support economic development in the Mandalika area," Herlan said.
