Jakarta, 10 May 2021 – To boost Indonesia’s tourism digitalization, PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) forged cooperation with PT Saber Travel Network Indonesia, which is a subsidiary of PT Garuda Indonesia, for a joint marketing of digital tourism platforms, Wonderin.id and TravelAja. Telkom Executive Vice President Digital & Next Business, Saiful Hidajat and Saber President Director, Azhar Umar signed the collaboration agreement at Garuda Indonesia office in Jalan Kebon Sirih (7/5), witnessed by Telkom Digital Business Director, M. Fajrin Rasyid and Garuda Indonesia Technical Director, Rahmat Hanafi.

Wonderin.id is one of Telkom's digital services that focus on the tourism ecosystem. It has the potential to digitize 4,500 travel agents which have collaborated with Saber, through the Online Booking Tools (OBT) feature. Meanwhile, Saber is the market leader of the Global Distribution System (GDS), especially the distribution of international airline tickets. With OBT, in the future travel agents can make tourism inventory reservations not only for domestic and international airline tickets, but also accommodation services, tourist locations, tour packages, and more. This is possible because Wonderin.id has implemented the XGDS concept, or the future GDS and accommodates transactions of all types of tourism inventory.

There is great demand for OBT not only from domestic travel agents, but in the future it can be for regional travel agents. Digitized travel agents will be able to support should there be a stimulus or promotional program from the government or the private sector. It will be easy to identify in a transparent manner who the buyer is, the travel agent, and also the type of inventory purchased, whether it is a transportation ticket, accommodation, packages or tourist locations, and others. In the future, to boost foreign exchange income from foreign tourists, there could be special incentives in price discounts or  additional services.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, companies and agencies really need to supervise and control official travel costs for their employees. TravelAja as a Corporate Travel Management (CTM) service functions for submitting and approving official travel and booking transportation tickets, accommodation, and others, in the same application. This application will work with travel agents appointed by companies and agencies, so it is apparent that TravelAja is a digital solution that supports travel agents serving corporate customers.

Telkom Digital Business Director, M. Fajrin Rasyid, said in his speech that Telkom is transforming its business into a digital telecommunications company through three main pillars, namely digital connectivity, digital platforms, and digital services. “Wonderin.id and Travelaja are Telkom's commitment to promote Indonesian travel and tourism through digital services, infrastructure optimization, and other digital services. In addition, we also focus on developing various digital services for other ecosystems, such as education, health, agriculture, and logistics ecosystems. With digitalization, we are optimistic that the national digital economy will accelerate so that we can make Indonesia become even better," said Fajrin.

In his speech, Rahmat Hanafi expressed his joy for the synergy between state-owned enterprises Telkom and Garuda, which optimizes the potential of each other's strengths, support each other, and complements each other to work on the tourism industry, especially concerning the difficult time that the aviation industry is facing because the Covid-19 pandemic. In the future, both companies expect to expand the cooperation to cargo, logistics or other businesses.

On the same occasion, Saber and PT Aero Globe Indonesia (AGI) also signed a memorandum of understanding as AGI has tried to use Wonderin.id’s OBT, while TravelAja operates as a travel agent, and helps to market it to corporate customers. Furthermore, AGI demonstrated live how to use Wonderin.id’s OBT to book flight tickets with a system that runs smoothly and is ready for all travel agents in Indonesia to use.
