Jakarta, 16 November 2022 - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) through a collaboration between its Yayasan Pendidikan Telkom or Telkom Education Foundation (YPT) and Community Development Center (CDC) is rolling out the Telkom Digi-Up 2022 program as an effort to support achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). This program is a synergy between  industry and educational institutions to improve student capabilities and to encourage the digital education cluster sustainability by fostering future young digital talents.

The Telkom Digi-Up program kicked off last week online titled "Escalating Digital Skills Competencies for Future Digital Talents" via video conference and broadcast live on Telkom YouTube channel. The community, especially high school and vocational school students, were very enthusiastic  to take part in this activity with more than 500 participants. This program was launched to prepare the needs of digital talent in Indonesia through a series of training programs, case-based experience and free certification that would add value to high school or vocational school students across Indonesia.

Telkom Digi-Up features a series of national standard digital training and certification programs (BNSP) covering various fields to accommodate all student interests. These fields include Junior Graphic Design, Junior Multimedia Designer (UI/UX), Junior Network Administrator, Junior Web Developer and Junior Web Programmer (Phyton) as well as holding a youth competition for high school or vocational school students across Indonesia.

Telkom Digi-Up program committee chairman Iis Kurnia said high school and vocational school students were very enthusiastic with the Telkom Digi-Up program. This is evident from the high number of participants who registered for the program, with 4,917 students and 7,545 selected certification programs spread across 25 provinces and 134 cities or regencies throughout Indonesia with 540 schools participating and reaching 11 cities and regencies in the frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged areas where 142 students participated.

"Based on the initial selection from the implementing committee, 1,000 students have passed the selection to meet the quota to take part in training, bootcamp and certification, which will be held from November to mid-December 2022 with full funding from CDC and Telkom. These students are spread across 23 provinces and 120 cities or districts throughout Indonesia with participants from 231 schools and reaching five cities or districts in the frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged areas with seven schools participating," Iis said. 

Telkom SGM Community Development Center Hery Susanto said the Telkom Digi-Up program is a manifestation of Telkom's commitment to the field of education. "Through the Telkom Digi-Up, Telkom hopes to reduce the competence gap in the education industry. It is a contribution from Telkom to prepare a young generation of digital talents with global competence to usher Indonesia to become a developed country. We are very committed to providing the best for education in Indonesia," he said.

Telkom EVP Business Services Division Eddy Sofryano said Telkom continues to contribute to prepare future digital talents, even by intensively collaborating with the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology through the Directorate of Vocational Schools to provide educational solutions that are linked to industries. "Telkom is ready to embrace future digital challenges, and through the Telkom Digi-Up program, Telkom hopes it will greatly improve the vocational students' digital competence. Congratulations to the students who have passed the selected to join Telkom Digi-Up program. Good luck," he said. 

Also present at the Telkom Digi Up kick-off  was Director of Vocational Education of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Dr. Drs.Wardani Sugiyanto, M.Pd. In his remarks, Wardani said that Indonesia needs many digital talents to advance the country. This is both a challenge and an opportunity for vocational education service providers. "In 2030 alone, we will need to have 47 million digital talents, therefore, we have to prepare vocational school graduates to fill digital talent demand in the future," he said. 

To encourage the fulfilling supply of digital talents, stakeholders have been developing a project-based learning strategy for vocational school students. As a learner-centered learning model that uses in-depth learning processes with various topics, it features exercises on real problems during the learning process so that students can learn to find the solutions. Telkom Digi-Up is the answer to creating future digital talent.

For students who have passed each stage, please be well prepared. You are lucky to be part of this Telkom Digi-Up program. Great, strong, and empowered vocational schools strengthen Indonesia," Wardani said.
