Jakarta, 14 October 2022 – PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk as a leading digital telecommunications company has been mandated to take a pioneering role that continues to focus on transforming its business and human resource development.

President of the Republic of Indonesia Ir. H. Joko Widodo has earlier emphasized that Indonesia should not only be a digital market but also a player in various digital segments to create a more conducive Indonesian digital economy ecosystem in the future. According to the president, one of the most important factors to enable Indonesia towards a comprehensive digital economy ecosystem in the future is by accelerating digital transformation and encouraging the growth of digital talent in the country.

"Currently state owned enterprises in Indonesia only have 1% digital talent in their human resources pool, while the minimum required is 20%. Therefore, Telkom and Telkomsel as digital telecommunications companies that have the best digital talents, must become the backbone of Indonesia's digital economy with their various innovations. By continuing to innovate, we can reclaim Indonesia's digital ecosystem," State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir said at a recent Telkom event.

Data from the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) showed that the number of young leaders is expected to increase by 10% in 2023. Meanwhile, based on the World Bank data, Indonesia could have a shortage of nine million digital talents with the growing technology sector until 2030.

To realize its vision in becoming a digital telco by continuing to develop these digital talents, Telkom has at least three programs that can accommodate the company's internal and external digital talents to develop and innovate. The three initiative programs are Tribe, Amoeba and Indigo. Through these three programs, digital talent can channel their creative and innovative ideas and develop them through startups. The incubation, acceleration, and management of funds and investments process will also be supported through corporate venture capital, MDI Ventures. This encourages TelkomGroup to collaborate with potential startups to have a significant impact on Indonesia's digital ecosystem.

"In facing future challenges, Telkom is transforming while at the same time trying to continue to develop the country's next generation of young digital talents. There are more and more talented young talents at Telkom and we are optimistic that they will be the forerunner of the company's young leaders. By developing the best talent, qualified digital technology, and a strong business ecosystem, Indonesia can become a major economy in the region and even in the world," Telkom President Director Ririek Adriansyah said.

Telkom has top digital talents with 51.15% of its employees are millennials. Even the company's digital business is staffed by accomplished young leaders. Telkom is also the first state-owned enterprise to obtain Great Place to Work certification based on a survey conducted by the GPTW Institute with a score of 91%. The survey conducted on these employees indicated that Telkom is a good company in managing its human resources.

Telkom also tops 14 Indonesian companies by being ranked first in the LinkedIn Top Companies 2022 award. This achievement is possible thanks to the predominantly younger generation workforce's positive performance. Telkom will continue to strive to produce the best digital talents as future leaders and contribute to realizing the digital economy ecosystem in Indonesia.
