Jakarta, 31 January 2023 - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) handed over assistance of a temporary school building at state elementary school SDN Cibulakan, Cugenang sub district of Cianjur regency as a form of the company's support for those affected by the recent Cianjur earthquake. Telkom West Java Executive Vice President Syaifudin symbolically handed over the assistance to Cugenang Sub-District Head Komariah on Wednesday (25/1).

"This assistance shows Telkom's sympathy for elementary school students who were affected by the recent earthquake. We hope that the community can benefit from this temporary school building while waiting for the school reconstruction to be completed, and hopefully it can also be used for Cugenang community activities," Telkom West Java Executive Vice President Syaifudin said. 

The assistance provided was not only in the form of temporary school buildings, Telkom also provided chairs, tables, blackboards, cleaning equipment, to free high-speed internet access for teaching and learning activities, which the teaching staff, 300 students of SDN Cibulakan, and the surrounding community can use. 

Head of Cugenang District Komariah expressed her appreciation and gratitude for Telkom's sympathy to the people affected by the Cianjur earthquake. "We are happy and grateful for Telkom's sympathy for us. Telkom's assistance will certainly make students and educators more enthusiastic in continuing the teaching and learning process, especially in the midst of limited conditions that the community still have to endure," Komariah said.

Previously, during the disaster emergency response period, Telkom had distributed 1,000 basic food packages and made the Datel Cianjur and STO Sukaresmi offices as temporary shelter posts. Apart from that, Telkom has also distributed assistance in the form of ambulances, ready-to-eat food, mineral water, staple food, medicines, sanitation equipment, learning tools, and trauma healing to 42 villages and 4,850 affected residents. Telkom had also repaired telecommunications facilities and assistance to facilitate coordination of aid distribution and evacuation of victims.
