Telkom Awarded 10 Winners of IndiHome Gideon Badminton Academy With One-Year Scholarships

Telkom Consumer Service Telkom FM Venusiana R (middle) accompanied by Telkom Regional 2 EVP Teuku Muda Nanta (left) presented a medal to one of the 10 recipients for a one-year scholarship course at IndiHome Gideon Badminton Academy in Bogor, Friday (5/2).

The 10 recipients would get full support from IndiHome to learn badminton as part of efforts to foster the young generation, especially young badminton players in Indonesia and to instill their spirit to progress along with IndiHome. 

 

 

Bogor, 5 February 2021 – PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) continues to strive to contribute its best to the country. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Telkom through its superior fixed broadband service IndiHome supports people to always stay enthusiastic and productive in studying and working from home. This time, Telkom supports the development of badminton in Indonesia so the sports can progress along with IndiHome.

Telkom Regional 2 and renowned Indonesian badminton athlete, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon, jointly held the IndiHome Gideon Badminton Academy (IGBA) program. Through this program, Telkom facilitates those up to 15 years old in the Greater Jakarta and Banten areas to develop their interests and talents in badminton.

The community welcomed this Telkom Regional 2 initiative, with more than 400 participants registering from 30 December 30, 2020 to 24 January, 2021. Participants had to take part in virtual and physical selection. In the virtual stage, Telkom selected a five-minute video sent by participants, in which they stated their motivation to join the IGBA program and demonstrated smash, backhand, forehand, and serve movements.

After going through the virtual stage, 25 selected participants based on their best skills and motivation moved on to the semifinal stage. The judges, comprising of professional badminton athletes such as Kurniahu Gideon, Markis Kido, and Marcus Fernaldi Gideon selected them in person, and held the process in compliance with the Covid-19 health protocol. From the 25 semi-finalists, the jury screened the 10 best participants to compete in the final round.

IndiHome's fixed broadband internet fully supported the IGBA final selection series, which were held from 1 February to 5 February 2021 with two sessions per day. The morning session was held from 09.00 to 12.00 WIB and the afternoon session was held from 15.00 to  17.00 WIB at Gideon Badminton Hall. The finalists were chosen based on their own technical skills in playing badminton and their endurance, all of which are important components in building the character of a badminton athlete.

"The ten winners would have full support from IndiHome, which includes the cost of a badminton course for one year which includes their personal expenses and living costs. This is an effort to raise the younger generation’s spirit to move forward with IndiHome, especially aspiring young Indonesian badminton athletes. Venusiana said that the selected participants would each get an exclusive badminton training from professional athletes at the Gideon Badminton Hall, which is located in Ciangsana, Bogor, West Java.

On the same occasion, Venusiana announced the ten recipients of IndiHome Gideon Badminton Academy scholarship, which consist of six men and four women. They are Neuro Ean Jogie Sinaga (9), Juan Asher Heriawan (11), Christian Noeya (12), Hafizidane Abdullah (13), Kevin Ferdian Santoso (15), Muhamad Ibrahimnauvic Rizqi Sopyan (15), Ketty Rudianto (12), Citra Dwi Lestari (12), Malyaraisa Andaradigdo (13), and Ardini Cantika Putri (15).

In addition to announcing the 10 finalists, Venusiana also gave a token of appreciation to the 25 participants who had successfully reached the physical selection stage. It was then followed by a friendly match between Gideon Academy, IndiHome, and the participants.
