Telkom and BAKTI Synergy Implements Digitalization in Five Super Priority Tourist Destinations

Jakarta, 26 May 2021 – PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) and the Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (Kominfo) of the Republic of Indonesia collaborated in developing the Tourism Network (JP) Hub, as a manifestation of their support to accelerate the national economic recovery in the tourism sector. The main support for JP Hub is Wonderin.id, a digital platform for Indonesian travel and tourism that Telkom developed. 

The collaboration aims to realize the tourism industry digitaliz in five super priority tourism destinations (DPSP) in Indonesia. The collaboration includes training and mentoring tourism professionals in digitizing information about accommodation, tourist attractions, and tour packages. This program begins from a location in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), which President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, has declared a Super Premium Tourism Destination.  There are 10 target districts on the pipeline to be onboard the digitalization. They are the districts of Manggarai, West Manggarai, East Manggarai, Ngada, Nageko, Ende, Sikka, Lembata, East Flores, and Alor.

Director of BAKTI, Anang Latief, said “Apart from evenly developing infrastructure especially in the frontier, outermost, and most remote regions, and regions that still do not have telecommunication access, BAKTI Kominfo also develops a digital ecosystem. We forge cooperation with Telkom to provide telecommunication connection, and to give added value through digital skills that could support the local economy especially on tourism.” 

 Telkom SVP Corporate Communication & Investor Relation, Ahmad Reza, said, “Telkom continues to initiate in taking an up-front role to ensure the adoption of digital technology benefits that spurs economic recovery, including the tourism industry. Through Wonderin.id, we always encourage collaboration between stakeholders in order to digitalize the tourism sector better in the future.” 

Reza added, “This training is expected to be an interactive event that can facilitate business owners to develop their business potentials, equipped with a comprehensive digital transformation. The service is expected to ease their management and marketing process, so that the tourism business operators could continue keeping up with the latest development. We are convinced that such digitalization could make Indonesia even better.” 

Wonderin.id is an Indonesian tourism digital platform that Telkom developed as a technological solution to encourage development of tourism ecosystem, by introducing superior services that include XGDS (Global Distribution System) to develop strong networks that bridges them with tourism partners in marketing products and services, simplifying access to distribution and information and travel business analytics to improve the partners’ transaction experience. 

Despite collaborating with various parties, including state-owned enterprises and tourism professionals, Wonderin.id continues to strengthen its role in assisting micro, small, medium enterprises to become the main driver of national tourism economic growth and to advance an inclusive and sustainable digital ecosystem in Indonesia.
