Telkom Affirms No Customer Data Leaks

Jakarta, 22 August 2022 - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) reassured that IndiHome customer data was not leaked as widely reported in the media last week. In line with an investigation by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Telkom also ensures that there are no data findings containing valid IndiHome numbers. In addition, there is no concurrent system at Telkom that stores customers' browsing history and customer personal data. 

 

"After we conducted a thorough search and investigation, we believe and ensure that there are no customer data leaks in our system and this is 100 percent data fabricated by parties or individuals who want to smear Telkom. We store all customer data in an integrated cybersecurity system and manage it based on applicable laws and regulations," Telkom SVP Corporate Communication and Investor Relations Ahmad Reza said in a press conference with Telkom VP Network/IT Strategy, Technology and Architecture Rizal Akbar and Telkom EGM Information Technology Division Sihmirmo Adi at Telkom Landmark Tower (22/8).

 

Telkom VP Network/IT Strategy, Technology and Architecture Rizal Akbar said the currently circulating IndiHome numbers data lists are invalid in terms of the number of digits and the number format. As for browsing history data, Telkom stores data for the last three months in accordance with applicable laws and regulations to ensure customer convenience in using the service, including Law no. 36 Year 1999 on Telecommunications and Presidential Regulation No. 52 Year 2000 on Telecommunications Operations.

 

"Telkom has no intention to spy on or take advantage of historical data or customer personal data," Ahmad Reza said.

 

As a dual listing public company, Telkom complies with business ethics, compliance and corporate governance in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. "Thank God, there was no data hacking in our system and thanks to all parties that have helped maintain a conducive atmosphere so that we can ensure that the data circulating in the public is not our data. We will continue to strive to improve customer data security and make this a top priority in order to increase customer convenience."
