Strengthening Data Platform, Telkom Introduces Data Center neuCentrIX Ulin Banjarmasin

Banjarmasin, 8 April 2021 – PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) launched the second neuCentrIX (Neutral Cloud & Internet Exchange) data center in Kalimantan or its 18th in Indonesia, in Ulin, Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan province. The center, known as neuCentrIX Ulin was launched by Telkom Wholesale & International Service Director Dian Rachmawan, who was accompanied by Telkom Regional VI Kalimantan Executive Vice President Rijanto Utomo and Internet Service Provider businessmen. The launch was held in a hybrid manner with few people physically attending the event with strict compliance to the health protocol in neuCentrIX Ulin site, witnessed by others on video conference live streaming, Thursday (8/4).

Telkom has built neuCentrIX in 13 cities across Indonesia; Medan, Batam, Pekanbaru, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, Makassar, Manado, Balikpapan, and Banjarmasin. The neuCentriIX has a mission to accelerate the development of smart digital infrastructure and platforms that are sustainable, economical, and accessible by all and to orchestrate the digital ecosystem to provide the best digital experience for customers. This is also a manifestation of Telkom's commitment and strategy as a Global Digital Hub.

As the domestic demand for internet and digital products increased, Telkom was encouraged to realizing a digital ecosystem, by developing the neuCentrIX data center. “neuCentrIX is a TelkomGroup initiative in serving the wholesale market for the telecommunications industry and the digital ecosystem by providing data center services. With a competitive advantage of having the widest coverage and having the largest eyeball access in Indonesia, neuCentrIX is able to meet the demands for high-speed internet and access to digital products that will support business development in the future," Telkom Wholesale & International Service Director Dian Rachmawan said.

The neuCentrIX Ulin, located on Jalan Ahmad Yani Banjarmasin, is a data center that has 29 rack capacity and is standardized as Tier-2, or having a service level assurance with less than 22 hours per year downtime (99,741% guaranteed availability). Moreover, neuCentrIX is certified with ISO 27001 ISMS (Information Security Management System) Certification as a guarantee of an international standard business data security in managing information security risks by maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.

"neuCentrIX is also a carrier neutral data center, on which users can connect to various internet service providers and content providers, thus providing flexibility for businesses in designing their networks," Dian Rachmawan said.

The establishment of neuCentrIX data center is expected to accommodate demands for collocation, connectivity, cloud, and digital products for governments, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and start-ups. The neuCentrIX Ulin is also expected to become a meeting point for digital businesses in Kalimantan, so that it could realize Indonesia as a Global Digital Hub.
