Sepaku, 18 August 2022 – PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) introduced digitalization in the Sepaku area of new national capital Nusantara to support accelerating development in the new capital region, especially in information technology and telecommunications aspects, marked by the inauguration of the Micro Edge DC neuCentrIX and the launch of infrastructure implementation and the Digital Community Center of Bukit Raya village by the Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority, Bambang Susantono, Telkom President Commissioner Bambang Brodjonegoro, and Telkom President Director Ririek Adriansyah on Thursday (18/8). Also present at the event were Telkom Commissioner Marcelino Pandin, Telkom Independent Commissioner Bono Daru Adji, Telkom Wholesale & International Service Director Bogi Witjaksono, Telkom Network and IT Solution Director Herlan Wijanarko, and from East Kalimantan Province Communication and Informatics Agency.

Telkom President Commissioner Bambang Brodjonegoro said in his remarks that the national capital development, known as Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN), is not just about moving the administrative center of government, but about how IKN can become a role model for urban development throughout Indonesia. "One of the important aspects in IKN development is how to use digital technology. The neuCentrIX Sepaku and Digital Village inauguration is TelkomGroup's effort to promote digitalization. The data center is present here not only for technology and telecommunications companies, but more importantly to be able to help the local economy through MSMEs. Because future MSMEs can only upgrade if they enter the digital era, supported by a digital platform," Bambang Brodjonegoro said.

Head of the Nusantara Capital City Authority Bambang Susantono appreciated the digitalization support that TelkomGroup provided. “A thousand miles start with the first step. IKN raised the 3D concept, namely design, decarbonation and digitization. With digitization, IKN will become a smart city with an intelligent transport system, smart building system, smart energy, and various digitalization facilities to carry out daily activities. This is just the first step of the next steps. IKN is a city for all that shows the spirit of diversity and Indonesia, so it is our duty to develop it," Bambang Susantono said.

neuCentrIX Sepaku is a micro edge data center to support the development of a digital ecosystem in the IKN area. This data center is part of the national data center ecosystem encompassing seven clusters across Indonesia. Digital center development in Nusantara will be supported by six clusters covering Balikpapan, Banjarmasin, Pontianak and Sepaku, which will later encourage IKN National Deployment program. The data center at IKN will be integrated into the Telkom network and other data centers, as well as connected to global undersea cables in east and west Indonesia to accommodate the various needs of customers and business people, including edge computing, platforms and other digital services. Therefore, the Digital Hub Ecosystem is expected to provide benefits especially for rural areas by creating economic activities that are no longer centralized in big cities, limited by distance, time and location.

Meanwhile, to develop a digital society and anticipate the future digital divide in the IKN area, Telkom will implement digital infrastructure and ecosystem utilization for the Sepaku community, which includes Nusantara Smart Village through the village service system, monitoring and evaluation, the Bukit Raya village digital community center, augmented reality technology to support the promotion of MSME products in Bukit Raya village, virtual tour of IKN's zero kilometer and 3D design for the development of the Bukit Bangkirai tourist area. Telkom realizes that providing a digital environment must be followed by development of a digital society, which will drive the acceleration of the digital economy. To increase local people's digital literacy in Sepaku and other IKN areas is one of the focuses that the company will support.

Digitalization of the IKN Sepaku area is a manifestation of TelkomGroup's commitment to support digitization and development in the IKN region. It is more than just a discourse as TelkomGroup is seriously developing infrastructure and platforms that are equipped with ecosystems with various digital services in this new capital city area. TelkomGroup is also preparing infrastructure for the transition phase that supports the availability of IKN connectivity during the development period.

In general, telecommunications infrastructure that TelkomGroup is providing for IKN includes fiber optic networks and fixed broadband services, wireless networks (4G/5G cellular, satellite and Starlink, WiFi-6), and backbone and transport networks that are interconnected from IKN to Batam and Manado international . In the digital platform domain, Telkom focuses on providing a HyperScale Data Center, which Telkom plans to develop in the IKN area. Meanwhile, for digital services, TelkomGroup focuses on developing Smart City and Command Center.

"With the strength of the connectivity infrastructure and platform that Telkom Group has, we are optimistic that we can support the realization of IKN as a smart city that is directly connected via high-speed fiber-optic networks to the global internet via Batam and Manado gateways as well as to all provincial capitals and regencies or cities. We also believe that IKN will be a role model for the development of other cities throughout Indonesia. TelkomGroup is also committed, through digitization, it will continue to make the best contribution to making IKN the national capital of which the world can see that we are all proud of,” Telkom President Director Telkom Ririek Adriansyah said.
