Jakarta, 29 June 2022 - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) through Indonesia Telecommunication and Digital Research The Institute (ITDRI) and the Center for Macroeconomic and Financial Research at the National Research and Innovation Agency (Pusris EMK BRIN) regularly collaborated to conduct research in Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara. Pusris EMK BRIN assesses that ITDRI has the learning, research, and innovation capabilities to make this collaboration a success. The joint research aims to develop three priority sectors including fisheries, agribusiness, and tourism based on the application of technology. By being committed to building a digital ecosystem, the research collaborations focus on providing solutions that have a significant impact on the Indonesian economy in the digital revolution era.

Digital technology development is inevitable, and it has prompted the Indonesian government to initiate fostering and generate at least 600,000 digital talents per year. Therefore, the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises commands Telkom through Indonesia Telecommunication and Digital Research Institute (ITDRI) to make these aspirations come true. Through learning, research, and integrated innovation, supported by the Penta-Helix partnership network, ITDRI strives to produce global-quality digital talents who can innovate independently. Nurturing these digital talents is expected to support Indonesia in achieving technological independence, increasing the value of innovation, and building a digital ecosystem.

ITDRI Chairman Jemy V Confido said he hopes this collaboration can have a positive impact on the company and Indonesia. "With this ITDRI and BRIN research collaboration, we have high hopes to produce technology and business recommendations, as well as recommendations on three priority sectors, namely fisheries, agribusiness, and tourism. This can encourage synergy and collaboration between those within the Penta-Helix, and can eventually provide solutions to various problems in these sectors and help the national economic recovery,” Jemy said.

Head of Pusris EMK BRIN Zamroni also expressed his hope that this research collaboration would be more than just a signing ceremony, and it could last and make a more tangible contribution to the nation. "With such collaboration, we can first establish a better relationship. The second is to increase collaboration that results in knowledge and innovation. What I mean by innovations are those useful in producing mutualistic cooperation between Telkom and BRIN, in the sense that the results of BRIN research can also be combined with Telkom's technological support, and it can be beneficial for Telkom and BRIN, as well as for the general society," Zamroni said.

This research collaboration will last for six months by developing digital technology-based fisheries, agribusiness and tourism sectors. The ITDRI and BRIN began their collaboration in Mandalika by conducting a baseline study and technology validation, which would produce recommendations to meet technology needs and to encourage the three priority sectors future development in Mandalika.

This research collaboration is expected to create a collaborative ecosystem that has a positive impact, as well as to provide recommendations to implement technology in various sectors in Indonesia. The ITDRI and BRIN partnership is also expected to mark a good start for continued further collaborations.
