Accelerating Digitalization With 100% Fiber Optic Network, Telkom Introduced South Sumatra as a Modern Broadband Province

Telkom Network & IT Solution Directo Herlan Wijanarko (center) inspected the infrastructure at the Integrated Operating Center (IOC) of South Sumatra region on Thursday (22/4). Herlan appreciated the staff and encouraged them to secure and ensure the quality of TelkomGroup services, especially during Ramadan and in anticipation of the Eid holiday.

 

Palembang, 22 April 2021 – PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) continues to modernize its network into 100% full fiber as a form of its commitment to accelerate digitization in all regency capitals in Indonesia. This time, it was marked with Telkom Network & IT Solution Director Herlan Wijanarko inaugurating the South Sumatra Modern Broadband Province during which he virtually and digitally cut the cable copper at Automatic Telephone Central (STO) Talang Kelapa, Palembang and three other locations, namely regional offices of Prabumulih, Lubuk Linggau, and Baturaja via video conferencing (22/4).

Telkom Network & IT Solution Director Herlan Wijanarko said in his remarks that South Sumatra Modern Broadband Province is Telkom's action to accelerate the digitalization of Indonesia by evenly distributing connectivity and access to information with reliable broadband quality across the regency capitals, in order to provide the best digital experience for TelkomGroup services loyal customers. 

"The network modernization into fiber optic is an important basis in providing digital platforms and services. We hope it could support various government activities, business people and the community to be fully digital, thus further strengthening development in 17 cities and regencies in South Sumatra province to transform into a smart city in the future. To date, Telkom has modernized its network in various cities and provinces in Indonesia, totaling 398 Modern Broadband City. We are committed to continuously presenting the best network across Indonesia to remote areas. We expect by the end of April, Sumatra will be a Sumatra Broadband Island,” Herlan said.

Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru appreciated Telkom's move in realizing a 100% fiber optic network in the Land of Sriwijaya. “Congratulations to Telkom on the launch of the South Sumatra Modern Broadband Province. Hopefully Telkom can continue to improve the quality of services for the community and continue to synergize with the government to develop an Advanced Sumsel for All," H. Herman Deru said on his testimonial video.

The launch of South Sumatra Modern Broadband Province is among the activities included in the TelkomGroup Siaga RAFI (Readies for Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr) 2021 Board of Directors’ Working Visit in Telkom Regional 1 Sumatra region. To ensure the best quality service to customers, especially during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1442 H, Telkom rolled out its annual activities entitled TelkomGroup Siaga RAFI 2021 themed "Stay Connected and Protected" from the start of Ramadan until a few days after Eid. The nationwide TelkomGroup Siaga RAFI 2021, consisting of three programs – Premium Service, Special Packages, and Telkom Sharing -- is held in all Telkom Regional offices. 

Herlan, accompanied by Telkom Regional I Sumatra Executive Vice President, Machsus Kusuma Apriyono, inspected the infrastructure at the Integrated Operating Center (IOC) of South Sumatra region. He was also presented with information on activities carried out at the location by the local staff. Herlan appreciated the staff and encouraged them to secure and ensure the quality of TelkomGroup services, especially during Ramadan and in anticipation of the Eid holiday.

Herlan and his entourage also visited TelkomGroup GraPARI customer service center and had an exchange with customers to hear their voices on how to provide the best digital experience for customers. Herlan also gave gifts to customers and staff, and reminded the staff who are on duty to stay healthy and adhere to health protocols as the outbreak continues. 

Herlan also gave donations from the TelkomGroup Sharing initiative consisting of renovation assistance for orphanages and Islamic boarding schools, and donations for orphans and the poor. Telkom provided Rp1.6 billion in total assistance to all Telkom Regional offices across Indonesia. In addition, the regional office also launched the LinkAja Charity program known as Ramadhan Friends Program as a medium for employees who want to donate and share with others.

Herlan said he hoped TelkomGroup Siaga RAFI 2021 can be a manifestation of the state-owned enterprise’ existence for Indonesia, especially Telkom, from which customers and  less privileged people can really benefit to reflect on the spirit of Ramadan and share happiness with the community. In addition, Herlan said Telkom believes that the pandemic has changed people's digital adoption. Hopefully, Telkom’s digitalization can facilitate community activities and will make Indonesia a better place.
